Basic questions about materials and buying vintage
Hi
New to TRF and rolexes. Planning on my first purchase and I've got a couple questions. First, when the listings say the Rolex is platinum, or rose gold, does that mean all of the metal case and the band is solid platinum or rose gold, or is it played or something? Second, for the average Rolex (not collectors edition) is it always better to buy the most recent production, or do well kept 20 year old watches function just as reliably? I know that with collector cars--say Porsches, the lovers of Porsche like the older models but will readily admit that they are not as fast, comfortable or reliable as the new releases because of advances in machinery/design. I wondered if the same were true for rolexes. Thanks in advance:) |
