The latter.

Stainless steel watch vs precious metal watch on oysterflex to keep it casual-luxury, super comfy and avoid the bracelet getting beat up?
The latter.

I voted with my wallet and never looked back. '519 all the way.

The steel watches have huge demand for being the cheapest way into a modern Daytona, so they get bid up to silly premiums. The premium over list on the objectively more 'precious' white gold oysterflex model is not as high as there are fewer people in the pool of potential customers, due to it being a more expensive piece in the first place. But it still costs more than a '500 on the open secondary market, rather than costing the same, because people want it more.

- if the costs were equal, I would go for the 519.

- as it is, the costs are not equal, and I would be happy to spend more and get the 519.

- and the reason the costs are not equal on the secondary market is that people are willing to pay more for the 519 than they are for the more common steel models, because it's simply a more desirable watch, so the open market secondary prices for the 519 are higher.

If the 500 was as good as the 519, the costs on the secondary market would be the same, because people would be happy to pay just as much for the 500 as they pay for the 519. As it is, they don't, because the 500s are not as good :)
This is the answer

The lugs on the left side are also larger

Ghost was my choice

Hoping my AD calls with a ss Panda however I would never part with my Ghost on the leather strap my favorite.

This thread is like 4 years old. Odd to see it revived. But was interesting to see how people felt about these watches back then compared to now.

I had a family member that worked at an AD. Got the Daytona in just over 1 year from when I asked.

No other heavy hitters with high end brands

This is incredible.
Rubber = Casual / sport
Leather = More formal

Best of both worlds.
Another reason for my strong consideration on the switch.

Here are my chronographs. One is missing because it is under review.
I like them all equally, but if I had to choose just one, I would keep the Panda.

Love the asymterical lugs on the 116500.

I don’t mind it either. It serves a purpose, overall balance. I also value the smaller classic case design.

Tough call.

I have both and can’t really choose.

519 if I really really really really had to, by a very thin hair.
