just out of curiosity...

Does buying from an AD really guarantee that you are getting the real thing? It seems to be me that an employee of an AD can very easily swap a genuine Rolex for a fake one, and sell it off to an unsuspecting customer.

The very second Rolex caught wind of this at an Authorized Dealer, the AD would no longer be an AD.

Rolex AD's are typically high-end stores and they would not want to risk their business reputation on pulling scams like this...inevitably, they would be caught at some point.

I'm not saying that the owner or the manager of an AD would try to pull this off. But there's nothing to stop a rogue employee from doing this without the knowledge of his/her employer, right?

Any thoughts on this?

Which idiot would jeopardise his good job by doing something so purile and stupid?

The AD's reputation would be mud within a few days.....and his dealership would be lost....forever. He would have to shut down his shop, sell off everything and go into a new business venture.

Are you kidding me?
Heres a word...GREED!!!! Just because you work at a AD doesnt mean your making six figures a year..I know my daughter works at one. Im not saying the AD would ever do this but some employee with a greedy streak in mind would probably ponder the aspect of pawning off a fake Daytona with the hopes of selling the Gen. and pocketing 10 grand or so...Obviously, the factor of them getting caught is extremely high since most are generally stupid about hocking such goods but I beleive it could in fact happen..If it hasnt already.

I am sure it is done, but the odds are very slim of it happening at a high end AD. It is a scary thought, but who would risk so much? If it is an employee, why switch it and not just take it home and resell it?

I suppose it's possible..

But the risk is so high......It's only a matter of minutes, or days showing off your new jewel that this would be found out... and all that paperwork points directly to the bad guy..

I think it more likely that a greedy employee would slip a nice piece in his pocket at the end of shift than run a risky scam....

Yup, and even an employee as an individual doing it would be just too risky.
