I don't think it matters in the least whether the color of metal in your ring matches the watch or not.

Great advice. I always make a conscious effort to put my watch on before my ring.

I think the wedding ring is independent of the watch (and everything else), but I think the watch should match the belt buckle, cufflinks, etc.

Of course it can. I can't imagine anyone caring at all, other than the owner of the ring and watch if it bothers them.

Wife was kind enough to get me bands in YG, WG, and two tone to match watch metals. I kind of ocd...

If it bothers you not to match then have your wife pick out a new one that matches. It's not the original watch that you wore at the alter that matters. It's wearing a wedding ring period and if she picks a new one you're all set. I'm speaking from experience. My wife got me a white gold wedding ring so the old yellow gold one went into hiding.

Palladium is another option. Just checked prices, however, and looks to be about the same price as platinum but scratches more easily.

For what it's worth, my wedding band was my farther's for nearly 36 years of marriage until he passed. It is gold from Tiffany's originating in the late '40s. I received it from my mother (how is also now deceased) for my wedding. I'd likely sacrifice a finger as opposed to switching out that band. Those who see no importance in rings as real symbols of commitment feel free to swap yours out. For me the ring is on a whole different level of importance than my watches. If all your ring represent is a fashion accessory I don't give much hope for the longevity of what it represents. To answer the original question, hell yeah, wear what ever metal you want with your ring.

Yes I think it is okay. You also have the option of getting a tungsten carbide; stainless steel; cobalt ring or rhodium plating your yellow gold ring. These are all cheap alternatives and many men have a couple of wedding bands.

Of course. It’s funny, really, but many of the richest, most powerful men and women in the world don’t care one bit about such things. Indeed, you’ll often see European monarchy wearing a Submariner on a formal occasion. When you are truly rich and powerful you don’t sweat that kind of stuff. And if you’re not rich and powerful you have no reason at all to give a darn.

The warden and I bought matching SS wedding bands shortly after we got married. Her wedding band and engagement rings are YG, mine is YG also. For every day we usually wear our SS bands, when we get dressed up we"ll go with the YG. If we wore our YG bands every day they'd be destroyed by now.

Luckily my fingers got too fat for my YG ring so I don't have this dilemma currently.
I'd say you and your wife get WG or Platinum rings, put some diamonds on hers, she's happy, problem solved

My band is yellow and white, so I'm good to go......although I have been eyeing an Everose Daytona.

I got a Platinum ring with the same brushed finish as my watches.

I wonder if I need a Platinum watch now because having a Platinum ring and SS watch is disgracefully uncoordinated!
