The thickness of the watch doesn’t bother me. In fact, it adds more dimension to the wearing experience. And keep in mind, it’s not that much thicker than a Sub. If you remove the diver’s clasp, you’ll be able to get a perfect fit, and it won’t wobble on the wrist.

Is this a fair deal?

How much did you pay for your 2018 NOS?
It's not a bad price. Mine was just a little cheaper but I bought it beginning of the year. I think if you like the watch and want it new (like me), then definitely get it - it's discontinued so no more of these will be produced.

I actually loved the thickness. I also own a 5 digit explorer ii and while that one is4 slimmer and a easier wear, the 116600 is pleasantly substantial but not overwhelmingly thick (for me personally) like the deepsea.

Agreed. Removing the flip lock extension helps with a perfect fit.

The SD4000 is a fine watch; but, to my surprise, I find the 43mm somewhat nicer. It fits well and just seems visually more interesting. Longer power reserve too. But this is a debate with no final answer!

Interesting. Glad to hear the thickness isn't an issue. I wore one for about 20 seconds, so I never really got the feel for it myself. Design-wise it's one of my favorite Rolex watches.

That single red line is indeed a great addition to have but my tiny wrist can only do up to 40mm, oh and I almost forgot the cyclops

Back in the day I had the choice of all SS sports models, tried them all on and bought the Dweller. Still love wearing it it puts a smile on my face every time I put it on. Mine is going nowhere!

A fine watch no doubt and no wonder those in the know covet this model. Classic.

My only knock on the SD4K is the strange end link fitment. Othewise, a near perfect watch.

Get a sd4000 while is still resonable price - a rare and short year of production will make this ref go up in price a lot.

I’m going to look at one this week……never seen one in person but I’ve had the 43mm red letter and it was nice………I’m expecting the 40mm to suit me more as a less in your face piece ive always had 40mm and like to stay in that range

Almost 7 years ago I took this picture, literally on the day that my 116600 arrived BNIB from Takuya. Still got it and have no plans to sell it any time soon

Anyone tried to put SD4K on an oysterflex?

I think it will look great.

Such an awesome piece! Bought new in 2014 at Wempe NYC. They said it was the first one they received after the release. Maybe so maybe not but it’s not going anywhere.

I love those endlinks, similar to the 1st DSSD, YM, YM2, and Platona

Is there different Mark dials you the Sd4k? Would the first year dial be any different than the last 2 years? Thanks
