Thought the SD43 was the one but...
it’s a little too large and heavy. Purchased BNIB, I’ve only worn it twice. Thought I’d love the size and all, but it’s larger than I thought it would be and the added weight is noticeable. Am I crazy or what? I really think a SubC date is the right one for me. I’ve tried one on before and I really think that would be a better fit. What do you guys think?

From the pic, I don't think it looks too big but it does look like a sub at 40mm would fit you as well. How big is your wrist?
I got my SD43 last week and also have a DD40. So, the extra weight of the SD43 (compared to a sub) is nice and definitely a plus for me. |

It is a little on the tall side compared to a sub. I think anything over a 7" wrist is fine for the 43mm. There are several here with 6.5" wrists rocking the 43. But it's your personal preferences that matter.

I love my 116600 but wouldn't consider the 126600 due to my diminutive 6.5in wrist. I felt even the 114060 felt unwieldy.

You've expressed your thoughts and preference. I'd go with that. Enjoy the submariner.

Looking at your picture I’m not completely surprised that the size and weight is not quite working for you. The SD43 is a watch that needs to be worn above or behind the wrist bone and slightly snug, not right on the wrist joint where yours is (in my humble opinion). That way the caseback sits in the soft area between the wrist bones (l learnt that with my 16600) and the watch sits much flatter and more comfortably on the wrist. This helps both disguise the increased size/thickness and weight over the sub. I’d also say that you need to wear it for a while to get used to it. I’d also recommend removing the divers extension. My wrist is smaller than yours and worn this way my SD43 is extremely comfortable and wears just if not more comfortably than my sub. But equally this reference is not for everyone and it may not be for you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

it was smaller than i thought it would be... but that is going from a DSSD. So its all relative.
IMO the reduced thickness and 1mm size difference is more noticeable going down in size than the added thickness and 3mm increase is going the other way from a sub.

Always wear a more substantial watch behind the wristbone, and while not tight, snug. Get your little finger under the strap with a wiggle and you're good. It should be easy to adjust with the glidelock clasp. Give it a try for a few days, in an enviroment you are not going to add any dings before you decide. As to the weight, a little reassuring heft can be pleasing, once you've stopped it sliding into your hand. But it's not for everyone. The Seadweller is a step up from the Sub in many ways, and harder to find. Let it settle in before you flip. |

I agree with you 100%. I felt the same way when I got mine. It really made me appreciate the classic size and fit of the submariner.

My opinion, do not discard that wonder so fast, leave it on day and night for a week, I'm sure you will not notice, if not, go to 116610.

It sounds like you already know what to do, sorry the SD43 didn’t work out for you. You’ll be happier with a 40mm reference and it’ll be much more wearable for you.

Agree 100%. I bought one and felt the same way. Just too thick and heavy for me. I prefer the Sub. Personal preference.

Honestly it looks like it fits you well. Can you post a couple more photos with the camera further away from your arm? Every watch looks big on someone when the picture is taken from 6 inches away. But the fact I can see your wrist on either side of the lugs tells me it fits you well. Don't give up on it just yet...

It looks great on you, but if you prefer the Sub then go forth and be happy with your Sub.
You can’t go wrong with either. |

Looks good size wise
Can you take one with it behind your wrist bone?

I have sd43 and wears great without diver extension. I have 6.75 small wrist. Whatever watch you get I would not wear right over wrist bone. That does not look comfortable.
It weight is a problem then def avoid a pm or plat anything. |
