Echo what others have said, you are wearing it too low. Raise it up some and tighten up the bracelet/clasp to have it a bit snug above your wrist bone.

I agree. It's a great fit on my scrawny 6 3/4" wrist. Extraordinary watch. I love it!

I agree with Devildog - try wearing a bit back on the wrist. I'm left handed and wear watches on on my right wrist. For whatever reason my left wrist is 7.25" and my right is 7.5". If I size my DSSD for my right, to ride above the wrist bone, it is super comfortable. If I switch over to my left (without resizing), it slips below the bone and I get the crown dig and tightness when that wrist flexes up - not comfortable to me and night and day comfort when compared to the right wrist position. Also remove the diver's extension as others have mentioned.

The first impression is important, no question about it. To me the SD43 felt lighter and thinner than my other divers, spot on in terms of weight and size. If it doesn't feel right , trade it in. Only you can tell. The Sub is a great watch, not for me but has all the qualities you can expect from such an iconic piece.

I’d just wear it further back on your wrist, I can’t imagine any watch being enjoyable when the crown is digging into the back of your hand. The sd43 looks great on you I wouldn’t get rid of it.

never really understood having a bigger watch with the same water depth capability as the smaller SD, if your wrist is large then might as well go to the DSSD.

Yeah, you're crazy. You are just suffering from classic case of buyer's remorse. So you are able to find a brand new SD43 and you don't like it? It looks awesome on your wrist. Are you accustomed to smaller watches? When I switch from my 36mm DJ to my Sub C, I feel like I'm putting on a piece of farm machinery on my wrist. You just have to realize it's a big watch. It's going to feel big. Just give it a few months so you can get accustomed to it. I find I don't prefer to wear my Sub C (which feels big to me) with long sleeves and use my DJ with short sleeves. Short sleeves are where larger watches really shine. |

OP, the watch looks really good on you. I have the SD43 and a Sub. It took me about a week to get used to the weight of the SD43, but now I don't even notice it. I swap watches throughout the week and enjoy each for what it brings to the table. I took off the diver's extension almost immediately, dialed in the bracelet fit, and off to the races I went. Good luck with your decision. |

I usually go with my gut. If you aren’t feeling it, I’d move on.
I don’t think you should try to “get used to” a watch. Sure give it some time, but don’t force it ... if it’s not for you then move on |

I understand your feelings. I wanted to like the DSSD. I tried them on several times. Ultimately I wrote them off, recognizing that I needed to acclimate to them and at some point in the future perhaps I would feel differently
Then saw the SD43 and it was the perfect compromise for me-a Sub on steroids. Still I recognize it’s size and weight will take time getting used too-but at least I like how it looks on. I think a Sub would take almost no acclimation, but it is heavier than any of the watches I have worn before my Air King |

Personally I think it looks great but the fact you felt compelled to write this post tells me it does not matter what we all think. You made up your mind before you wrote the post and you just needed confirmation of that decision. We all do it from time to time. Enjoy the sub.

The SD43 looked fine on your wrist but apparently it didn't feel right to you. I know its a heavy watch because I have one but on my wrist it feels very balanced and hugs my wrist very well.
On the other hand the Sub date also looks great on your wrist and apparently it feels right to you. That's all that matters . What you like . Congratulations. Enjoy your new watch. |

It's just a big watch. The watch is made to fit a wide variety of wrists but it's going to look like a hefty chunk of steel on almost everyone.
Don't be self conscious about it being too big for your wrist. It's not. It may be too big for your tastes but that is a different issue. Wear it for awhile and you'll get used to it. If you can't get over the size after a couple of weeks, it's not for you. You can always flip it for a pretty penny and grab a Sub+Cash. Just remember, Subs are as common as they get and it's unlikely you'll see anyone else rocking this beast. So give it some time before you rush to a decision. |

I happen to think that the SD43 is the watch that never should have existed. Sea-Dwellers don't come with cyclops. Full stop.
I do understand that Rolex wanted a larger diver, but they should have done a Submariner II (like the Explorer II) in the 43mm case, red text and no HEV, ergo a thinner case. All they needed to do for the 50th Sea-Dweller as to add the red text. Regardless, I would wait. Basel 2019 will surely come with new generation Submariner with updated movement and slimmer lugs. That is the one to get, especially the no-date version. |
