Great news that you were able to be made about as whole as possible in this situation. And glad to hear that Chubb insurance is easy to deal with (I'm also a Hodinkee/Chubb insurance customer).

Very happy to hear the outcome. Of course, no amount of refund or claim return can bring back the watch and make you forget the ordeal you went through, but these are good steps towards moving on!

May I ask if Chubb was able to reimburse you for the actual market value of the watch that you had claimed in your insurance policy of was it MSRP or something in between?

Here’s to hoping good times ahead in 2022. Cheers.

Im absolutely amazed at the level of service provided by Chubb I was paid in less then 6 days got an ACH to my account. My adjuster was amazing !! He called the Police,Hotel, Detectives, Rolex to report the serial number. The police have been great too they are on it they are doing alot! To recover they watch. Also got a call from the Ceo of Hiltons assistant the hotel insurance is also going to cover the loss but will pay Chubb not sure how that works. I do have to sign a NDA with Hilton. They are going to give me many free nights too. I told them I dont want anything else, im sure they like me as I spend 150+ nights a year away from home. I wanted to pay for my 10night stay which they declined, so im happy. Hopefully the police have enough evidence to make an arrest. Also ordered a wireless camera to use in my future hotel stays. Thanks guys and stay safe in 2022. If you have any questions I will try to answer them in the thread
I think you mentioned perhaps that the watch was new enough that it wasn't specifically listed as a watch on your hodinkee policy? Is that correct?

And what is the process of adding new acquisitions?

I did get like 1k more then what I paid. I had bought the watch on 12/16 and it got stolen 12/23. I already got another one and we are gifting it to my father-in-law.

Man, I know this could happen anywhere, but Dallas is my 2nd home and Hiltons are where we stay. Makes me a bit uncomfy...

But yeah, glad that turned out the way it did. Chubb might now be something I'll actually look into.

So you did add it immediately to your policy? And paid the new premium difference?

Or was there no difference?

The watch wasn’t scheduled yet on his policy.

He benefited from the new purchase coverage that Chubb offers. Gives you 90 days to add new items to the policy, but you’re still covered up to 25% of the total policy plan.

I had missed the first thread and just read it…. Woah, that must have been a lousy moment walking into your room. Sorry for that.

I’m glad the insurance took care of you financially.

What type of documentation did they ask as proof of ownership? Do you know if box and warranty cards are sufficient?
