That is partly true. The Greens do not have a mandate to govern but are allowed to influence policy so heavily due to how weak and accommodating the ALP are too them. This is so Julia can cling on for as long as possible. it is a disgrace that such little people have such influence over major policy who's only idea is to tax the ones who are the backbone of the whole economy.

AS winston churchill once said, 'the best argument against democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average voter'.
If only Australia could learn from what has happened in the UK and elsewhere.

Suddenly this whole contrived fiction called global warming makes sense.

How convenient.

it is such a farce. it is funny that it was Volcanoes erupting that receded the last ice age. I cant stand the complete lies that surround climate change.

Let’s avoid the “is global warming happening” discussion as it inevitably never ends well.

One thing we can all agree on is that additional taxing no matter how sneakily you word it, is not a solution to carbon emissions.
It’s especially useless when you consider that almost 100% of Australia’s power is produced by burning coal or gas and we export 28% of the worlds coal.

It does create employment. The government will have to employ hundreds of bureaucrats to collect and count all the lovely new money this tax brings in. Also the income tax percentages have been increased, somehow that gets overlooked. This is a scam on Australian taxpayers.

Totally agree Steve.....
Unfortunately, it will also increase the cost of everyday living even further with consumables etc....

Just another tax that we Australians have to pay for when we purchase goods and services. At the end of the day, big corporations will pass on costumers. It doesnt matter how much the government sugar coats it, we as Australians always end up getting screwed.

And many of you, your countrymen and all of western Europe condemmed the United States and George W Bush for not playing at this socialist power grab....

BTW... guess what MAJOR pollution producing countries were to be exempt from the Kyoto climate treaty: India and China. Just remember who you are supporting everytime you pay your new taxes..

That is becuse you keep voting the socialist bastards into office. Never forget; "an election is a future auction of stolen property" and everyone has gotten greedy and demanding of the nanny state.

Don't worry, here in the US we are heading down the same path lead by the same brand of limousine liberals that hoodwinked you. We are just a little slower here and maybe once it gets really bad, we can rise up and change our government before all is lost. At least we still have the means, one way or another.

That is my personal opinion. It is on-topic.

What do you suppose the carbon footprint concept is directly attributed to?

No need to answer.

Thanks.

Obviously it’s your opinion if you wrote it outside of quotation marks
I also never said it was off topic, just that it often doesn’t end well.

My own science based view is that global warming is occurring, and very possibly influenced by the actions of man.
However the negative repercussions and timeframe of any resultant climate change are vastly overstated.
