First R: 126600 vs 124060

Going to pull the trigger and buy my first (and may be the only) Rolex. And now I have to make a choice - Sub or SD43. I'm not looking for luxury and investment, I just need an everyday watch. The main question is size. My wrist is close to 7in. I have pam312 - fits good, pam422 - feels a liiiittle larger than it should be, blancpain bathyscaphe - almost fine but I'd like it to be 1-2mm larger.

Any recomendations?

Everyday - 124060. Very comfortable watch and goes with anything. The sub was my first watch as well. Classic Rolex choice.

It's all a matter of your own taste. No bad choice there.
Wrist size will not be an issue for you with the SD.
Do you want the clean classic look of the Sub, thinner profile, no date or the SD with a bigger case size, date feature, red line etc?
My choice for a one and only of those 2 would be the SD. Good luck!

I just recently got the SD43 for my first Rolex and my wrist is a little bigger than 7inch. When I tried the Sub on, it felt too small for me.

At the end of the day you need to be happy. Try them on if you can and pick which one you like the best!

The SD43 has the date, why not then the 116610 / 126610 ?

Try them both and let your wrist and heart decide.
I did that last year, tried the DJ41, Sub date and ND. Blro and BLNR, my wrist said no to all of them then I tried the SD43 and the that was it.
Today, with the new sub and it’s almost identical proportions to the SD43 and its new bigger size the outcome of my decision may be different.
For me however, the SD is more special both in look and feel. I would buy chose it again and again.

I've worn a Sub for years and recently started wearing an SD43. I really love the proportions of this watch. If I had to pick one, I'd pick the Sea Dweller. You can't go wrong here as both are fantastic. Here's a shot of mine. Best of luck.

My wrist size is 7.5" and after owning the 126600 and the 114060, my choice for my first (and one and only watch) would be the 126610.

I picked up the 2020 No Date on Saturday and I love it. Simplicity and perfection. I like that it's simple, classic, doesn't have a date and doesn't have a Cyclops so is a little more discrete than any Rolex with a Cyclops.

The SD43 is more meaty, fits my wrist better, has the date which I use a lot, and has a more attractive bezel with markings around the entire bezel and don't forget the nice red writing. I also love that it's not a Sub so slightly less common.

In short there's no wrong answer and it just comes down to your own personal preference and what looks better on your wrist to your own eye. Cost is a big factor, too. The No Date is £6,450 here whereas the SD43 is £9,350. The difference of 3k is a lot of money and may be a consideration.

Try them both on and see what you think. Take everything we say with a pinch of salt, we're just losers on the internet and it isn't our money

Sd43 has been my daily for around 2 years now and I love it. Great watch if you have the wrist for it.

I prefer the SD. The sub is pretty boring imo so i turned it down (41mm sub). With that being said, the sub is more comfortable than the SD.

With the driver's ext link out mine is fine now but my wrist has a lot of cushion

i would say a sub. however no matter which one you choose, a beautiful timepiece to own. enjoy the decision and purchasing journey!

I prefer the SD43 and that would have been my first Rolex had it existed at the time. Nothing wrong with the Sub41 126610 though, might be more comfy as a daily wearer being lighter. My TT Sub weighs about the same as my SD43 so no big difference for me on my 18.5cm/7.3in wrist. My YM40 is definetly less noticeable on the wrist so I guess the SS SUB41 would be about the same. Try them on and let them speak to you. You'll just know which one is better for you, beyond any other considerations. Both amazing first Rolex watches, it's just that the SD always felt like the "better" Sub to me.

For me, I have to admit I was drawn to the sub because of its iconic status. I don’t know any other sub that represents the entire Rolex brand more than the sub (maybe the datejust). I got the 114060 and loved it. I had other watches and tried the cyclops and it just messed up the dial for me. I don’t mind it on the datejust because I just love the blue dial and jubilee so much I can overlook it. But I always go back to the sub, big reason I upgraded to the 124060. I don’t think there is much comparison here from a iconic status and overall look. One can make an argument it is the best overall watch even outside of Rolex, it would at least be in the conversation. Now if someone has huge wrists, I can understand the justification.

Love the sub, just a cleaner classy look. Per the price, keep in mind the sub also is selling for more aftermarket, which is an added bonus.

As a daily wearer I much prefer the Submariner. It just wears better IMHO.

The SD43 is a beauty, but it’s more of a rotation watch IMHO, YMMV

SD43. I've found the Sub a little small on my 7.1" wrist. I like bigger watches and the SD43 has great wrist presence while not being overbearing or uncomfortable.

Sounds like you'll be fine with SD43. But why not find a second hand dealer, try it on to make sure size wise?

cause i really love clean look of no-date-sub but Im afraid of its size - it looks too small, and SD43 is 43. I have CrisWard C60 ant is have close to SD43 size - 42mm, 51.5mm lug to lug - and it definitly is not large for my wrist.

not here in Russia. Official dealer says "we do not have steel models at all but you can buy some gold here and we'll give you a call when we'll got steel", an OD prices are much higher over MSRP and almost equal for 126600 and 124060 - it is something like $14000. Private sellers offers both models for $14000-14500 too.

I'd like to but there is no OD in my hometown and no R on secondary market too. May be I could do it mid of december during my visit to Moscow.
