What for the last 3 slots?

Hi guys I've been on here a while and collecting watches since 2007. Been through about 80 watches since then including about 12-15 Rolex 11 JLC and many others. Had a couple of PM peices Daytona and RG Yachtmaster but sold both as I felt quite conspicuous and worried about them too much... Ironic now that my Sky Dweller is worth more than the list of my 116655!

I was down to my BLNR purchase soon after launch in 2013 for a number of years whilst I liquidated my entire collection to fund a house refurbishment. In late 2018 I started buying back some sold prices for a LOT more than I sold them for. The 116600 is a firm favourite and a big regret. Passing through Heathrow T4 in Jan 19 I was fortunate enough to get a Polar Explorer at under list (sadly departed before covid and missed) Then I made a great alliance with my local AD who supplied me with the YM, LV, BLRO and Sky D within about 20 months. So I feel very fortunate to where I am. But still waiting for the WF Daytona which I am sure will come.

I've been stalking some Pateks namely the blue dial 5960g and the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time 5524. I have also looked at adding another JLC plus always have been interested in the Oechslin perpetual calendar UNs particularly the El Toro but never tried one on and wonder whether it will wear too large. Oh and I'd love an AP 15300 but can't bring myself to pay the going rate when I turned a blue face down in 2013 for £6k!!

Anyway enough waffling what would you think would finish off this 10 slot watch box perfectly? Yes a plat Roman DD would be amazing but not sure achievable just yet!

My wife has a few too but has zero "ambition" she's happy with her three...

Sounds like you’ve been through the spectrum and have found your “style” - congrats. Day Date and Calatrava Pilot Travel Time strong choices that keep with the theme of your collection. For the last, that’s a toughie. JLC is always a WIS favorite, but you’ve been through 11 and none were keepers. I noticed no Omega...maybe new Ed White 321 Speedie?

I might be tempted to say the skydweller over a daydate.

I think you're leaning in a superb direction already. PP 5524 + AP RO + OF Daytona.

This is beginning to sound very expensive...

I have had many omegas, grey side, dark side, PO, 2594.52, speedies etc. None have lasted, one big problem Omega have (and to some extent IWC) they have thick movements and massively thick cases which make prolonged wearing distinctly uncomfortable.

Here is my watchbox in 2014, my what would I give to have some of these back...

The only two the same are the BLRO and Zenith which I had sold to a friend and bought back. Of those, the only one I dearly dearly miss is the JLC master calendar - much more than the sum of its parts. The steel daytona I miss for its value but never enjoyed wearing it, wore small and I really struggled to see the fuss tbh. Had two sold two. The WG Daytona I had with its chunkier case was like a different watch and I loved it.

Thanks already have the Sky Dweller, I love it but its a big and flashy watch for every day.

The 5524 yum, 15400 and 15500 are to big may have to be a 37mm model. Not sure about the OF Daytona, I love the ceramic bezel not so much the strap on my RG YM.

CBA winding them, auto only, date only otherwise they go. I'm at a point now where hopefully I wont need to sell to fund other lifestyle stuff and just want to buy what I like and will keep if that makes sense. I have another Tudor incoming (BB Chrono) but they're less about the permanent collection and more about a bit of fun trying watches.

This is helpful...sounds like acquiring a JLC Master Calendar should be a priority!

Datejust, Day Date, Oyster perpetual, Exp. II, Air king, Milgauss,... any of those. And some sort of Seiko just to mix it up a bit.

If going for another Rolex, yes go DD. Definitely add one of the PP references you mentioned and then a JLC perpetual calendar to make a perfect collection!

you're missing daytona and day-date from rolex line-up......
and you could look outside the rolex brand, perhaps get a dress watch(PP/AP/VC/Breguet/JLC for that matter) and a calendar watch(Annual calendar or a perpetual calendar of your choice)

Definitely a Daytona and maybe a Datejust. Outside of the Rolex brand I'd say maybe a Speedy.

You are in a great position. This is how I see it.

Option 1: Keep it Rolex-centric. Add a day date and Daytona. For the third watch, a relatively affordable Rolex like Exp. II or white Milgauss.

Option two: Get at least one Patek and one Lange. There is a lot to explore there but I'd go with a Patek AC (5146, 5205, or 5396). For Lange I'd pick a Lange 1 but there are so many options for both brands it's insane.

I would go with option 2 for sure with 1 being close.

Hi Its a Pelicase with custom foam by casefarm here in the UK.

I love peli cases for watch storage as they're indestructible and smarter watch boxes often get damaged putting them in and out of the safe.
