It’s going to hurt slightly, but if the AD calls, doubt anybody would turn down the offer to buy one despite the price increase.

Damn I guess Patek isn't feeling the burn from this recession yet.

Recession only hurts mostly lower middle class. Don’t get me wrong it does hit the middle middle class and the upper middle class as well but mostly the lower middle class. The extremely wealthy or .1% of income earners don’t get hurt by the recession. They are the idiots that cause it. Or better put they support the policies that cause it. Mostly I suspect because they don’t get affected by it. Patek will do just fine during the coming worldwide recession.

It is probably the inflation factor. I doubt the recessionary trends are much of a factor to lessening demand at the moment.

IMO it would be bad to put up prices, The business is not adhering to shareholders and already making large sums of money, im sure they can stomach some of there extra costs.

Shareholders? So the Stern family. They can do whatever their hearts desire

They can but with the slowdown of watches stuff that was hard (not aquanaut/nautilus) to move 2 years ago will be even harder to move with prices up over 15% in 9 months.

We’re in agreement, I don’t think it would be wise either. I was simply stating they do not have to answer to shareholders as Patek are not public.

well at least this further tightens the spread between AD price and grey price, isn't this what majority of this board wants, ie. make it harder for the flippers...?

Patek is never going to be anything short of eye-watering painful when it comes to price. It has to be. It's part of the DNA, for better or for worse. Simply put, there is no other brand with the history and provenance of Patek, and as such, that is always going to be reflected.

In a world of easy money, it is no surprise to me that Patek is moving up prices aggressively. AP is doing the same. If any manufacturers should be doing this, it is these two.

AP are being greedy, Trying to control everything. As mentioned before in times of demand amazing but when times get uncertain I would rather have a retail network which would have to take X amount of stock every month guaranteed

Terrible, salty, opinion.

What AP is doing is no different than any other manufacturer. They have wild demand. It is real. They're no greedier than you are for wanting only their hot models, or Patek or Rolex for wanting to run the best business that they can.

Sadly doesn’t much matter to me , since I can no longer buy from an ad since mine was flagged. Kinda a moot point to me, after buying 8 PP’s and being loyal to the brand - not flipping. :-((

That sucks - have you considered reaching out to PP to see if they can refer you to someone new to work with? Your AD doing the wrong thing shouldn't reflect on you as a good, loyal, customer.

So are Vacheron being ‘greedy’ by making most of their desirable models boutique only then?

I’d like them to increase prices perhaps 10-50% depending on model. Take a significant step closer to market pricing, recognizing they can’t go all the way to allow for market changes.

Stick to what they** know and that's creating beautiful watches. Leave the retail side of things to people who specialise in retail.

Mr stern has a similar opinion too! Just saying
