Icon2 Tudor GMT Order Placed

Hi All,

After a few weeks reading and getting advice from other members, I just placed a Tudor GMT order with Sandy at David M Robinson in Canary Wharf London with a deposit.

They're getting about 2 per month and I'm 14th in line. Compared with the other ADs in London, their waiting list seems to be the shortest. Plus, they have taken a deposit which hopefully means that they'll be pushing to get the orders filled asap.

Sandy was quick to respond to emails and answer any questions I had so I decided to visit the branch to meet him and the team to decide whether to order. Sandy comes across extremely well and being a watchmaker by trade, he appears to have a detailed understanding of what you are buying and why.

I get that I will have to be patient and it's unlikely that I will see the piece this side of Christmas but it's my first foray into buying from an AD and overall, I am happy to start my relationship with Sandy and DMR this way.

I will keep you folks updated on how things go!

Thank you to all the folks who gave me some advice and made suggestions on what I could do and should do to get the GMT.

Sandy is a good guy. I got my gmt from him there, and it was in the window. They had another on leather there also which was there until I went on hols 3 weeks ago.

Hopefully you will get soon. They seem to get a good number of watches.

Cheers Steve. I mentioned to Sandy that I went in to the store on your recommendation and he was asking what your name was so that he could tahnk you personally.

Perhaps you could drop him a line to ID yourself!?

2 a month, 14th....7 months!? Holy cow.

My local AD has 3-4 left people on the list and they get 2-3 a month in various strap options. IIRC they'll have models in the case for purchase in a few weeks.

Thanks Sub Man. I hope the folks in front of you manage to secure the watch elsewhere so you get bumped up the list.

Are you going for the bracelet version?

Just popped into DMR as I was passing by and was met with a huge smile from the man himself! I had no agenda and did not intend to chase for an update on the order. I'm probably buying one of the cheapest watches that he sells in the store but I'm still treated with time and courtesy.

It's nice to be given assurance that the AD decision I have made with the help of this forum is the right one. Depending on how I feel by the end of this purchase (and assuming I don't do anything stupid like order another before the GMT arrives!), I may make a You Tube video about the whole experience to share my views.

Can't wait to take some photos of the piece when it arrives.

great choice the watch is well worth the wait

I put my name down at an AD on the day of the baselworld announcement and got mine on 2.6.18 - I am just as pleased with it now as I was on the day I got it

it is a superb watch and the crazy low price (relatively speaking) just makes it all the better

does 2 a month mean that the supply is almost copious?

Compared to some of the comments on this forum, yes!

Thanks for assurance Tim. I'm looking forward to the day when Sandy calls me with some good news but also have to admit, I'm enjoying the waiting game experience! Not sure how long it will last but for now, I am going to ride the wave and learn as much as possible along the way.

the AD I have ordered with (deposit down) had 30 on the list, of which I was about 26.

Expected 2 drops June and July, called July to be told they had 15 left on list and I was 11th. July drop never happened for me anyway. Waiting to hear back from them.

Interesting... Thank you for the update. I have never been to HK before but might consider a trip in October. Do you recommend any ADs in particular? And how much are they selling for please?

thanks for the positive comments - I knew I had kept my old heritage chrono for a reason - just so I could save 」600 on the steel bracelet on the GMT!

actually I really like the chrono on the supplied nato so bit of a win win (and free sort of)

How do I get one of those non-rivet bracelets? I must admit though I really like it on the NATO

I already had a heritage chrono so used that bracelet on the gmt - all 41mm case tudor straps and bracelets seem interchangeable

I am sure you could order that bracelet from an AD if you wanted it - ebay may be your friend as well as these bracelets have been in use by tudor for 8 years or so now

mine came on the nato and it looks great on that strap

Did you try Harrods Tudor? I walked in and they had 12 GMTs delivered that morning. They said they would be receiving another 12 approx in a month or so . Zero waiting list.

Always amazes me how some Tudors are selling for a premium / waiting list when multiple ADs have them sitting in the window. Don稚 get me started on Heathrow T2 where you can get 20% off retail every time!
