"502 Bad Gateway"

When trying to open varous Forum threads, especially in the Watches For Sale section, I frequently am unable to open... I get "502 Bad Gateway" on an all-white screen, with "nginx" centered below the message.

This is driving me nutz... what am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Rob

Only way I've found to fix it, is to delete cookies and temporary files and restart the browser.

I hope we have now fixed this.

I spent all weekend working on this, it was a big job, but I think we won.....at least for the moment. There is still and always is work to be done.

But at least the 'Gateway' errors should be resolved, and we should be functioning much more smoothly.

Just to let you guys know we are 90% of the way there.

However there is 11gb in the database that needs to be deleted, and I must ensure in doing so that the database is not corrupted.

So I am awaiting professional advice on this and forewarn that the forum may go offline for the deletion of that 11gb. That can take several hours because it is not a straightforward procedure.

But it will be well worth it in terms of performance.

Thanks for the update. It's tough for us when TRF is down.

We appreciate the work that goes into maintaining this site.

Try loggin OFF TRF, close browser, and then login using rolexforums.com; otherwise, PM a mod and ask if you're blocked somehow...

In the last couple of weeks the forum has moved to a dedicated server.

Once per week the server performs a backup.

This can take several hours to perform.

During such time there may be intermittent errors because when a back up is being performed the server cannot at the same time allow users to access that information that is being backed up.

Sorry about that but backups of the forum are essential procedures that must be undertaken.

I know it is frustrating but it is necessary and it is only for a few hours per week.

The problem with doing any kind of maintenance on the forum is that there are going to be hundreds of users unable to obtain access....

That is unfortunate, but the forums are just so popular that every time I go to do some maintenance for fix up that requires the forums to go offline I see at least 100 members online sometimes up to 300 members online.
