'Tick' when rotating (self winding) GMTIIc..

Ok I could do with a little help please, I noticed when holding my GMTIIc and rotating it as though self winding motion, I hear is 'Tick" as apposed to a winding motion sound from my Daytona and other self winding watches I own. I took the bracelet off as I thought it was coming from there, so holding the head only I still get a 'Tick' noise but no rotor sound. The watch is loosing about 1 sec per day so I'm not worried about that, it just sounds as though the rotor is slightly out or something.

Question: is this normal, the watch is only 10 months old?.

You are over thinking... if the watch is loosing 1 sec per day your watch is fine. Otherwise, you can take it to an AD and have them check it out.

Mine doesn't make any noise at all, unlike my other automatics. My Pam on the other hand is extremely loud in winding itself. I've seen that as a sign of build quality so far :)

In general the feeling of auto winding has got to to with :

- Ball bearings or not
- Bi-directional winding or not
- Rotor "Play" due to wear

Haha, thanks for that. I would normally leave it alone until it stops but having recently had a problem with my BMW motorbike, as it I noticed a little tick and thought, that's not bad, it then went onto a £2.5 k engine rebuild as the internal oil pump was / did fail

Thanks again all
