PAtek 5990 Leather Strap Options?

Recently became the proud new owner of a stainless steel 5990! Love the watch, but I'm the kind of guy who swaps bracelets for straps in the summer. As such, I'm finding myself wearing my Aguanaut 5167 more than my new 5990 simply because of the bracelet vs strap.

Does anyone know of suppliers who can craft a leather strap (or retrofit from another watch) for the 5990?

Patek don’t make the Nautilus with strap changing in mind – you either buy a model which comes on a strap or with a bracelet.
We discussed this somewhat, not long ago, and it’s due to Patek using a different mid-case for both variants that precludes owners from swapping and changing one for the other.

When Cartier’s patent for the quick strap change mechanism ends in 2018, iirc, then Patek and others may introduce their own version.
However, Patek may be more in favour of you buying one of each type – so don’t hold your breath.

I've never seen a 5990 on a strap of any kind.

Wore my 5990 today - can’t say I ever have seen one on a strap nor would I consider doing so. Like the Rubber B and Everest options for Rolex and have a few but for me not a consideration for Patek. If you want a Nautilus on a strap, it should come from Patek that way - my $.02.

The polished endlink is larger on the straps than on the bracelets so they are not interchangeable but a custom strap could be made.

Time for some serious necroposting.

Never say never, 5726 endlinks fit without any modification (otherway round, different story).
So yes, as it turns out you can fit a strap to a 5990

Got a Rubber B incoming this week, since the proof of concept works.

That is perfect! I do love leather straps on Nautilus, but always had to choose between the strap and bracelet models. I’m very impressed…thanks for sharing this.

Woww!! I always want to use strap on my 5990 too, is this the original 5726 endlink you took out from the watch and put it on 5990 or this is aftermarket endlink? I did found aftermarket endlink but not too sure about it, since it seems doesn't have the thin metal plate that will hold the strap from swinging

Original 5726 endlinks, so they have the insert that goes into the strap.

Doubt the aftermarket ones would look that nice since the strap would be free to flop about.

WOW! So this means I could buy extra endlinks for my 5726 (with bracelet) and insert it on it and buy leather straps!!?! Anyone done the same?

Where did you get the endlinks?
