Fist AP, 15450

I finally decided to own an AP and so a journey began visiting my regular AD and a local AP boutique spending many weeks trying the 15400 and 15450.

I’m not gonna debate the 15400 vs 15450 as it has been done before and still going on. What I’m sharing is a personal experience.

The 15400 is the natural choice as I’ve been wearing sports model watches. However each time I put on a 15400 it doesn’t look quite right. Reason was because I have a small wrist.

The 15450 on the hand fits like a glove. The moment I put it on the first time, I knew its the right size.

However due to my stubbornness, I persisted to convince myself to wear the 15400. I spent several more weeks revisiting the stores to try on the 15400 but ultimately went with my heart and acquired the 15450.

Please enjoy the many pictures and I hope it’s useful for anyone who needs a reference.

Nice choice! This may have been answered in the various threads, but seeing as how you were going back and forth on the 400/450, assuming they were both blue, my question is are the dials the same hue of blue?

Somehow in the photos I've seen of both 400/450, it seems like the blue is more vibrant on the 450 vs other versions.. Did you notice that or is it lighting in play?

Congrats nonetheless!

Thanks!
I’ve tried silver and blue dials. Unfortunately, I was not able to hold both 400/450 blue dials at the same time.
Each time it was brought out to me on different occasions when I visited the boutique. Both were reserved pieces.
But as much as I can remember both 400/450 blue looks pretty similar

Nice!

I'm hopelessly on the fence about whether or not to acquire a RO. But if I do, it will be a 15450.

Congrats! Due to the insane reseller prices on the Daytona, I am also now looking into a 15450 myself. Wear it in good health.

Congrats!

Blue is the same on the 450 and 400, different on the 202 and again on the 300, getting progressively darker each time.

Thank you all.

Ah yes the 15202 is definitely darker vs 400/450.

Congrats! Mine should be arriving soon. It sure does fit you like a glove! The 15450 fits similar to a 40mm Rolex sports model.

Beautiful watch. What size is your wrist?
Was AD able to discount on the blue?

6”. No discount from boutique. In fact blue dials are not available or hard to come by at ADs

You mean 400 vs 450?
It’s the size, 41mm vs 37mm

Slightly off topic, but is the 15450 blue dial boutique exclusive? It’s not notated as boutique exclusive on the website, but I’ve heard that it in fact is.

Wow very nice!!!
I actually had this debate as well with the 15202 vs 15450.
In the end I went with the 15202 but 15450 is a beauty!! congrats!

Ok, cool. The reason I asked is the 15400 blue dial is notated as boutique exclusive:

But the 15450 blue dial is not:

He 15202 would be the perfect fit imho. Very similar in size to the sports model that I am used to wearing.
However it’s scarcity and no seconds hand was a deal breaker

I guess AP is either slow to update or it chose to remain ambiguous.
Word from my AD is that they have not received any blue dials for a Long Long time. Boutique manager confirmed it is exclusive.

Did you order yours from boutique too?
