Incoming.... My first Patek. Initial thoughts

Up until this point I hadn’t ventured outside of the rolex box. I’ve always wanted an annual calendar as well as a moon phase watch, and this one just checked all the boxes. I’m a bracelet guy and although I love the look of the more traditional models I’m never in formal clothes so sports watches just fit my lifestyle. I was torn between 5711r and 5726 and the 26 checked more boxes so here it is....

First impression outside of wow was the dial isn’t white it’s silver..... kinda disappointed as pictures made it look pearl white like a daytona dial. It’s still beautiful but I like pop and contrast in watch dials/bezels. It’s really comfortable on the wrist, but the clasp is a mission to open. Is this normal? Feels like I’m doing something wrong. I also love the open back and the sound/feel of the rotor. Overall this watch is stunning! Reading reviews about how this watch is hefty and sits above the wrist because it’s thickness feel completely blown out of proportion. If you like rolex sports models this fits and feels similar, even better actually. This watch will be getting a lot of my time!

Beautiful!! Congratulations. I love the 5726, especially in white. I'm biased, have one myself - like you, it was the first Patek I got. It's part of an ever growing "will never let these go" part of my collection. It's hard to capture this dial properly in a photo. I find that it can go from snow white to steely silver, depending on the lighting.

Wear it in good health!

Oh, and yes, the clasp can feel like a tight struggle until you get the hang of it. Even after 5 years of regular wear, mine still feels as crisp as when it was new. And no, it doesn't wear bulky compared to your Rolexes, I think that comparison is more apt with the others in the Nautilus range (like the 5711/5712, they do wear MUCH thinner).

The clasp on mine is also seriously tight and bit of a mission to open. Not great and to my mind its a bit of a flaw.

Congrats and well done Ryan! Not sure I'd call the dial silver, it's still pretty white a lot of the time but not as crisp as the windows, and yes the clasps are often buggers on these but at least you never feel vulnerable when they are on, and you get used to get pulling them off in time.

Yeah - the clasp can be a bit difficult at least until you discover the easy way to do it (took me quite some time).

It is a little difficult to explain, but the trick is basically to (1) open the side with the safety clasp attached by grabbing the sides of the safety clasp (where it is attached the bracelet) with pin and pulling that side open (2) then top open the other side lift up the bracelet and position your finger between the bracelet and the clasp and (3) then gently pull/push the clasp and bracelet apart. Easier than it sounds, once it is learned it becomes second nature.

Thanks everyone. I also appreciate the feedback on the clasp, funny I try to be subtle with it but when it finally gives loose its like an explosion

Congrats! The 5726 is one of my fav too!

The clasp is hard to use but you will get more proficient with it soon.
