That's a lot of Daytonas!

Picture taken by a friend of mine at the race (Todd Quenneville Photography). I wonder how many stainless pieces they got from Rolex for bundling all these two tone versions?

I'll bet any boxes that are shown in photo-ops are created for the occasion.

They're usually two tone. I think the dial color varies between white, champagne and black from year to year. I believe it was champagne last year and I saw TK with a black dial in interviews so he probably got that one from a previous race.

*EDIT*

Looks like a two tone white dial this year.

This year's were two tone with white dials...which I believe were the same as last year's or the year before.

May be easier to win a Daytona than walking into an AD and getting one

Very cool, has to be a great feeling to win one.

It’s interesting how they moved from ss to tt so recently. Basically a nod to how rare the ss models are. Might as well let the fans aspire to something actually obtainable in the tt.

Even if you win the Daytona, you still dont get the SS lol. These guys have better odds by going to a grey dealear

I love my Rolex but I am not ignorant to the fact that 80% of the cost of each watch is to fund events like this.

Yeah, but Rolex's huge marketing budget is the reason why they sell so many damn watches.

TT or a Steel or a PM. A Rolex that you are presented by Rolex itself compared to one that you can buy in at any AD is more valuable. I guess everyone on TRF nowadays is about $$, rather than passionate about watches or Rolex for the matter of fact.
Rolex also gives out watches as accolades to businessman and other achievers in their fields. Maybe a marketing gig maybe not. I think it's more special that way.

I really like the fact that they have switched from the Stainless to the Two Tone Daytona.

The TT - white dial is a REALLY sharp watch. Period.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were forced to remove stickers before leaving the stage....

Also, imagine if these were SS. I bet they'd easily go for $40k+ on the grey market...

They got special boxes too. If I buy the company (Rolex) the first thing I will do is upgrade the presentation boxes. I like the size of the ones in the picture.

So true. The actual cost to make watches is really very little and is the reason why most watches were simply thrown away when no longer wanted before the watch mania started. The big costs are in the advertising, promotional and regulatory stuff.

Well that's one way to get rid of excess inventory. Nice photo BTW. I wonder why there are two closed boxes in the middle. Maybe they're back ordered or Patek fans.

Right?! +1 ...or what's in the box is their position number on "the list" for the stainless.
