Seamaster vs Speedmaster
Hey guys. I'd like to read your opinions. I love diver watches so I'm a Seamaster guy. I know the right answer is both, but I'm curious to know what would you get if you had to choose only one. Cheers.

The Speed Master. So many other dive watches from other brands but only one Speed Master.

Are we talking a one and only GADA, or you’ll have other watches, too, just picking one Omega? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I own a Speedmaster so I have to choose that. But I love the Seamaster collection as well. Can't go wrong with either, so do both!
If only one, would have to be the Speedy because Omega does it so well AND they give you so many different choices so you can find the one that's perfect for you. |

I tend to gravitate toward a more classic, timeless style so I'd definitely pick a Speedy over a Seamaster.

I honestly don't know if I'd be able to pick...I have two of each and love them all. I'd say all of them get more wrist time than my 114060...but if forced to make a selection, I'd go Seamaster only because of the WR...I think...but maybe not. That's a really good question to pose!

For a GADA, it’s a Seamaster for me. I own both now, but wear the Seamaster much more often than the Speedmaster.

I'd like to say Speedmaster as it's such an icon, but I'd struggle because the Seamaster I also own is just the perfect watch. If push came to shove, and I could only have one daily, then the Seamaster, as my Speedy is a Tritium hesalite model and not perhaps as rugged a watch...……………………..
But then again, that warm patina'd tritium on the Speedy...……………….

Speedy. Although that white-dialed Seamaster is just awesome, and would definitely be my next watch if I were in need of a diver.

Seamaster for sure here. I’m not really a chronograph guy. I like the simplicity of the divers and that they’re water proof.

I have one of each. I voted Speedy. I have a ton of divers, only a few chronos. So I go Speedy.

It’s a Speedmaster for me. Probably the most significant watch, ever. Personally, I use the chrono function for my job and find its legibility second to one. Stylistically, it maybe the most balanced dial ever created, the matte dial and versatility due to the strap options as well as the blend of vintage and modern are really unlike anything out there. Speedmaster is interesting because if you give it a quick glance you may miss it, but look closer and it’s charms are on full display.

I have 2 dive watches. But if I didn't.... It's not an easy answer. I would probably buy a Seamaster 300M Diver black dial, SS bracelet. But since I have 2 dive watches, I'm in the market for a Speedy. Just waiting for prices to come down a bit more.

Tougher for me to answer than I thought it would be. I have a newer SMP300 and also a Speedy Racing (which I think is underrated pretty much only see the pro's in pictures but that's a different topic). Both probably get equal wrist time and I enjoy them both every time I put them on. Gun to head I would take my SMP300 but that's because memory wise I bought it in Switzerland.

I prefer the Speedmaster Pro, pretty much for the same reasons I prefer a late 1980s Porsche 911: pure in its simplicity and perfectly effective for its purpose.

IMO, this is all what priorities/qualities you are looking for. I can make a very compelling case for both. For the latest function, movement, and robustness then the Seamaster is hard to beat regardless of price point. The movement is just technically “better” in so many areas simply because Omega works hard to advance the movement in every area they can. They don’t sit back and are content with just “good enough”. I personally give their POC the top regards in function by a technical dive watch. The more I own it, the more I will say it rises above the competition regardless of price point to what it brings to the owner. Historically the Speedmaster owns this category and only a idiot would dare challenge its historical significance. The Seamster has its own long prestigious history but the Speedmaster’s history is without peer. Both are “enthusiast” models without the nonsense of other brands odd priorities not relating to anything horological.

Feel the sea master is a more modern look while speed is more vintage. Also agree sea has better movements overall.

Have owned both Speedmaster Pro and a newer SMP300. The seamaster is still in the collection. I dont mind a few scratches, but the hesalite crystal is completely rubbish. And also i am not a chronograph guy.

Apart from buying what you like, speedmaster collections will allow you to have much lower value depreciation vs seamaster.
