Ok Speed Freaks

I know you're out there. What's the fastest/quickest thing you've ever owned or had the pleasure of driving? Cars, boats, motorcycles, jetskis, airplanes, whatever. Let's see or hear about it.

Mine is my black b!tch. It only tops out at 130mph but it gets there in a hurry

This is my Kawasaki Ninja 750R, year 2000. It has 750cc, and tops at 280Km/h.

The fastest that I've gone with this was at 280Km/h coming back from Quebec, the tires were really gummy at the end of that run. Throttle fully cranked to the max and at top gear of 6.

Here's what I flew, the F-14D (also flew the A and B variants)

With the Burners lit:

High speed fly-by:

Maxed out on one hop at FL500 (about 50,000) and 2.0 IMN (indcated mach number)...about 1500 mph ground speed at altitude.

Steve-o
Do you actually get to fly an F14, or is it so computerized you spend your time programming its moves?
At 2 IMN, I don't imagine you can just pull the stik back?

At 2.0 IMN at altitude, the wings are all the way back and there's not a lot of G available, so you could pull radically on the stick, but it would only cause the plane to depart controlled flight...a bad thing.

Paul & Steve-o didn't you know Harleys were made to be ridden fast! They are bikes to be seen and heard cruising down the boulevard not screeming along like they were on a race track. I mean what happens when you need to turn a corner.
Now a Yamaha R1 is another story, I've had 2 of those and 220 kph is well within it's everyday ability.

You're right up to a certain point Steve. My bike has a 28 degree rake which is the tightest for a big twin HD, fully adjustable suspension in the front and rear for compression, rebound and dampning, and race compound tires. Trust me, I can drag the pegs all day long at a good rate in the twisties So she turns too.

But, it's no R1. That's a different class altogether.

I've done 108km/hr on my bicycle, yes downhill and in a full tuck on a twisty descent. Not that fast really, but considering you have less than two square centimeters of contact to the pavement, and brakes that are ineffective at that speed, it's quite a thrill.

I've gone about 100km/hr on skis, full tuck at Lake Louise.

I've gone 310km/hr in a Ralt RT-4 Formula Atlantic car at the Pocono International Speedway.

Let's see...

As far as acceleration, fastest I have ever been 0-62 mph (0-100mph) is 2.some seconds.
As far as 1/4 mile, 9.43 @ 158
Top speed, with GPS, 211.8 mph.

First gear top speed is 97mph. Second is good for about 130. Third... about 150. Fourth around 180, Fifth around 200, and sixth all the way to an indicated 225, 211 actual.

I remember an article that I appeared in MotorTrend a few years back and it was also on MotorTrend TV, and they took a stock Hayabusa and a Corvette Z06, places test drivers on both of them, and ran them 0-100mph-0. The famous Carol Shelby test.
By the time the Vette got to 100, the stock busa went to 100 AND got back to 0!

Nice bikes. I had a 2000 Harley Sportster XLC 1200 for a couple of years. A real fun bike to ride. Not a ZR-1 by any means, but fun.

This is the fastest thing I've driven (not the one pictured, but one similar). That's why my handle is DiabloJota. It is after a limited run Lamborghini Diablo Jota (pictured). Car has serious muscle. I hit 150mph before I hit the brakes out of sheer terror. I didn't want to wreck the guy's $300k car.
