Longest time you've gone between servicing your Rolex?
I know a lot of people service their watches every 10 years, and some even 5. Obviously its nice to keep everything clean and get a polish if you desire, but the quality of a Rolex far surpasses needing a 5 year service interval. My father has worn his Datejust daily for decades and has only given the watch its second service after 40 years. The watch looks great and is gaining less than a second per day. Anyone else gone a long time between services because frankly their watch didn't need it?

My wifes old DJ got its first service at 17 years old, I would not recommend leaving it that long. Amazingly all it required was a standard service!

If the amplitude and the beat rate is consistent I wouldn't get a service. Having multiple watches and have a watch spend half its life or more stopped even more so. That might 5 years, that might be 25 years.

I've only had my 35+ year old OP DJ serviced once. It has been 20 years since my last service. It is losing almost 20 seconds per day so it is overdue.

I wear mine in rotation so they only run for a few hours each in a month. I'm not letting anyone put them under the knife without damn good reason. They're fine with a little wind once a month. I also wear a beater most of the time.

Good timing for this thread, I have a 22 year old Daytona, bought new, it's never been serviced. It's a dress to impress watch for me. Spent most of it's life on a watch winder. Still keeps great time, however lately it doesn't run as long after wearing it. I can also feel it's not quite as smooth when I wind it.
I'm seriously considering a service at a factory authorized service center. What do those of you with experience think? |

Considering how little it's worn, I'm amazed you keep it on a winder. Only means you've been "wearing" it the whole time in term of calibre wear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Twenty five years for my GMT Master. Went to an independent shop and he did a great job. Feels new!

15 years, Bluesy. Ran fine and only needed the routine service. I probably could have gone to 20 years.

This exactly. Watch is brand new as no scratches but the caliber is used having run all that time. I would've stopped it . Actually I would've worn it :p

Not a Rolex (mine are still too new) but my Omega SMP is 20 years old and has never been serviced. -1 sec/day and still has a 48 hour power reserve. However, it hasn’t had a tremendous amount of wrist time during its life.

Nice to have members chime in, thanks. My Daytona isn't exactly brand new, over 22 years I've had lots of occasions to wear it. I was advised that the lubricants need to move inside the watch, now I know better, no more winder unless it's a date issue with another watch.
Sounds like with all the winder time a service might be advisable. If so, hopefully that gets me another 20 years. |

My wife's Lady Datejust is going on 14 years now. Still keeps time well, looks great, and she doesn't baby her jewelry at all.

15 years.
Results of service = 1)zero movement issues, routine service provided. 2)rscny unnecessarily polished the crap out of the bezel virtually rounding it out. 3)flat out lied about replacing the crown and tube (routine service replacement) requiring two additional visits within weeks after service to correct.

I love these threads. This is what Rolex toughness is all about. This is what the real Rolex enthusiast core base was all about years back.

My personal 16610 17 years. My parents day-dates and date justs, never and that’s 25-30 years. My 116520 bought in 2014 with no plans for service for at least the end of the next decade. |

I bought my Sub 14060 new in February 1996, and have been wearing it more or less 24/7 for 23+ years now. My only Rolex. It has only been serviced twice, both times by my Rolex AD where I live...in 2009 after 13 years, and again just last month. I only took it in for the second service because it started losing time...
