Very nice! This has the (nearly) exact same layout of the 5167a, unlike the 5065a. Just curious, is this a limited production piece? I honestly have never heard of it!

Not a limited piece. The 5165A came out w the 5167A in 2007 and got discontinued after about 1 year, most likely for weak demand. They were dogs at the ADs and were until fairly recently cheaper on the secondary market than a 5167A. Given the short production run it is a rare piece and the ask sky-rocketed past the 5167A to 35-45k lately.

Will rather get in line for a 5167A at my AD despite having a small wrist.

Thanks a lot for the information! Interesting piece and would love to try it out someday.

If that watch had Seiko on the face, I wonder if anyone would give it a 2nd look?

I own a few Seikos and love them, some of their pieces (GS) can even price out the 5165/5167.

Just underscores the trend to smaller more reasonably sized watches.

The same could be said about the Nautilus also.

With the finishing on the bezel, I’m pretty sure they would!

Aquanaut 5165 in 38mm

Very rare (rarest ?) aquanaut reference and a marvelous watch.

I like the 38mm size, its more compact, the dial fits better in the case.

So here it is

I love this!! Didn’t know it existed! I’ve always had an issue with the bigger size, this works perfectly.

People have been speculating around 1000 of the 5165A were made.

I could not find a single one when I wanted to get a 5165A a few years ago. Different story now as the current market for SS sports watches makes people stop hiding the 5165A under their pillows
