15503BC Japan Edition

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share with you some pics of the 15503BC white gold, limited edition of 300 pieces for Japan market with an electric blue dial (different from 15500 and 15202).

Note: Pics are not mine, unfortunately, but from IG account @overseas_trips

Crazy that Japan gets all these awesome pieces! Good for them.

Anyone know how easy it is (if at all) to visit a boutique there and start some kind of relationship for these? Is it as hard as it is in the US (high $$$ spend + a few years wait)?

I know some brands allocate differently based on country, but I know nothing about the market outside of the US.

I think I read somewhere there is a strategy for AP to allocate watches to people living close by. Like if you are French and visit Milan boutique, they will take your details and transfer them to Paris boutique.

They are really into building a relationship and don't want tourist shopping anymore (of course there might be deviations when it comes to boutiques/AP Houses in certain areas). This was confirmed by my SA in Switzerland who said they will have a preference for locals.

The VIPs will be supported by AP 'ambassadors' and won't be 'tied' to a boutique.

Top picture looks a bit like the VC Overseas blue, which is not my favorite. I'll just keep telling myself that, so I'm not sad this is unobtainium.

Probably harder. Japan has fairly rigid cultural standards for relationships, and if you don't speak the language it is hard to participate.

I'll try to see if I can find the picture again, but someone posted on Instagram in Japan a new limited edition 41mm Chrono. It had an open back and the electric blue dial. I though it was the 26320 at first, since the dial was all blue with smaller subdials of the same size. I loved it.

It think it may have been white gold as well, limited to 222 pieces.

It wasn't a serious attempt, but the Ginza boutique SA was rather curt when I visited in early 2020. I would guess that a strong local connection would be essential - presumably they get all the special pieces because there is a very extensive local collector base, not because they want to attract tourists.

Perhaps it’s the lighting, but I find this piece brutally unattractive; much more so than usual.

This is so radically imaginative! Does anyone know, for how many years has it been under development? I'm blown away by the innovative design.

I know, right? And yet, it looks nothing like the 15202 or the 15500.

How do I get this watch?

Why the hell would they make this just for Japan? This is the chrono I've been waiting for. Man I would buy this in steel or gold in a heart beat......

Wait a few months and then pay ~$450k on C24, if the green dial 26331BA is anything to go by. Although this is not quite as unique as the green/YG combination, so maybe $250k will do?

Because Japan (Yoshida) has a large base of long-term collectors that were absorbing LE after LE while 15202s were sitting in display cases and QPs and gold ROs were available at large discounts on the secondary market.

Nahhhh. This should have been added to the normal collection and drop the stupid panda sub dial thing they now did on every single chrono in the RO line. They need to go back to sundials being the same color especially with the new movement.
