New acquisition and I still have my balls!

So I bought an Air King about 4 weeks ago, however I was too scared to take it home because I was convinced the wife would kill me after another watch purchase. I spent the last 4 weeks trying to come up with a reason for the new acquisition whilst the watch languished in the AD's safe. I went from a feasible "my company gave it to me as a gift", to "I got it at a price I couldn't refuse" (not true as I paid retail), to "I got a one-year payment holiday, then I pay £10 a month blah, blah, blah", to the downright ludicrous, "I found £4,550 in a bag in the park and decided to spend it on a watch". In the end, I decided to tell her the truth, that I had fallen in love with the watch and had to buy it. To my surprise, she was fine about it and the conversation ended with my balls still attached to my body, so I picked it up this afternoon.

I am very chuffed with my new watch - pictures below.

Congrats! I really digg the new AKs. Just make sure you've got something lined up for her near future as well

Very nice indeed - I don't think there's ever been a watch that I've changed my opinion on quite so much as that Air King. Disliked it as an oddity at first, but it really grew on me over time, so that now I think it's rather cool & distinctive.

The fact it's a bit quirky (for Rolex at least), and the excellent anti-magnetic capabilities, both probably helped.

You only think you've gotten away with it, by the way - your wife has you just where she wants you, lulled into a peaceful false sense of security...

But at least you have a lovely watch. Better to ask forgiveness than permission, and all that!

Hahaha! So true on all points made regarding the Air King and most especially the one about my wife having me exactly where she wants me. Any pain she inflicts will be numbed every time I look at my watch.

When the wind dies down and the Sun sets, you will feel safe. At the point in time get out the knee pads. You will pay for this. The pain is just around the corner...... The wife always wins .........

Congrats on the new acquisition! Love your new AK! Just picked up a Datejust 31, champagne dial, with diamond markers, and jubilee bracelet for myself. My husband is not into watches, but I am , when I told him I was getting a new watch, all he said was..."Glad you're buying something for yourself, always taking care of everyone else, but yourself." Again, CONGRATS!

Much congrats on retaining your testicles. Though, without them, you likely would have no wife and thus the ability to buy watches worry free.

My thoughts exactly!

I will try to remember to bring this thread back to life in a few months to validate A. You still have your balls and B. You still have some money left in your bank account after her upcoming "random shopping spree"

Hopefully, you will still have both!

BTW, Congrats on the new watch!

Lovely watch and the story made me laugh.

When I finally purchase my first rolex, I may need to use one of those excuses myself!

Great story!:) I think prezzies for the Lady Dulwich might not go amiss, lavish din din, spa day, roses for a week, move Saturday's hanky panky up to Friday, you get the idea!
