I admittedly know little about Datejusts. Can anyone with greater knowledge give me some feedback? Should I stay away? My concern, of course, relates primarily to authenticity. The watch will not likely sell for big money so I am willing to take a chance unless anyone sees any obvious problems. BTW, I realize that the case is pretty well polished and that's okay with me.

If you are in the US and bid and won this watch make sure the seller does not write the words ROLEX in the customs/invoice form. The watch will never be allowed entry to the US.
The DJ is the most common watch in the entire Rolex line. Every jeweler's shop that sells Rolex and even nicer pawn shops have at least a few DJ's in the show cases. You can always haggle and bargain with them.

Why? Because I haven't seen one like this anywhere else, either locally or on TRF. Yes, Datejusts are common, but I've never seen one with this type of sunburst blue dial with those broad markers. Maybe it isn't appealing to everyone, but I think it looks great, and I'm not even a Datejust guy (I'm more of a sub guy).

So, no one sees any problems with this watch?

I agree - very nice watch - not a huge price either.

I am no expert, but they certainly went to the trouble of posting a lot of good pictures. They don't seem to have anything to hide.

Well .. I have more than one Rolex but the DateJust my father gave to me is my favorite out of all of them .. The DateJust is also the most popular model that Rolex makes .. I just bought a new DateJust in stainless and rose gold .. I dont see anything cheap about them

Be careful of this character. I bought a watch tfrom this guy after the initial buyer turned out to be a deadbeat.

I paypalled him $1650 for the watch + shipping. Then came a delay "I'm out of town". Then he inexplicably refunded my money and told me he would be back in town in a few days and we would do the deal then. I emailed him several times and he never responded.

So it's not a horrible story as the guy refunded my money, but...I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling after he refused to respond after the refund. Probably he made a better deal. But the lack of response is troubling.

Maybe. I personally think it's unlikely that he'd drive up the price over $3000 given that these typically sell for under $2000. My feeling is that someone really wanted this one, and was willing to pay a big premium to get it. Who knows.

As for the shill bidding, I guess that would be hard to prove right now. I'm curious what penalty he had to pay if he was shilling. I haven't sold anything on e-bay before so I'm not sure what percentage EBay is supposed to get from those fraudulent transactions.

Hmm, maybe. Not too long ago I was looking at Citizen Flight Chronographs. I'd routinely see people bidding 200$ over the actual price that you could purchase the same exact watch brand new + with warranty.

I just figured some people either are too lazy to do their research, or get too caught up in bidding wars that they lose all sense of fear because greed kicks in.

DJ's are normally over looked as I think younger people normally associate them the older generation (dont shoot me) we all know/knew someone who owned one.

I now own a DJII and I love it in a different way to my YM again a watch that is not everyones taste (for me one of the most under rated Rolex out there, that is unless you are a WIS)

I'm going to get me a couple of Citizen watches tonight. Nah, no Datejusts for me, they're too ugly. I going to contact Oscar, David or Tony to hook me up with some Citizens....with box and papers of course. (TT or SS? Hmmm....)
I'm also going to buy a good digital camera, take photos of my Citizen and use it as my avatar!
