I swear I hate Molex......

It seems that every time I walk into a Rolex AD these days all I do is drool over the 114270. I want a Explorer damnit!!

Did someone say Explorer?

There's good reason to drool over the Explorer: It's the perfect watch. In fact, I was just lost in admiration of my own about 15 minutes ago. It occurred to me that one of the many reasons I love this watch above all others is; it's the complete antithesis of the modern "bigger and more complicated" trend that's going on. No gyro-tourbillon here, no 1/1000th of a second chronograph, no 48mm case, no 48 kinds of straps to choose from, no dial color arguments... heck, it doesn't even come in any other metal combos! You either take it like it is, or don't take it at all.

I love that.

Micah, I tried on a buddies today, after wearing my Pam all day and you know what? The thing looked great on the wrist. It has a presence to me that a DJ never has had. The watch is super!!

Great pic as always BTW!!!

Nice pic...I think its the combination of sporty hands and datejust case that makes this watch enticing...at least you can find them now.

I remember a few years ago it was rare as hens teeth...the Japs and the Asians were buying them up like crazi....now luckily the demand has softened...

Great pic, Micah. Now if it just had a red 24 hour hand, it would be nearly perfect.

Agreed, and a date and cyclops, and a fixed bezel with a II after the name of the watch...

Then it would be perfect.

You're right. I knew there was something else missing. I just couldn't put my finger on it.

Looks good on the wrist...

On it's side...

Even close up!

There is *one* thing I don't like about this watch, though: Whenever I wear it, I start wondering why I even own any other watches!

Micah, what's with the Canadian flag on your jacket? I thought you were in the US midwest?

Close, I'm actually on the West Coast, I work in San Francisco. I got that powder-blue canuck jacket off of ebay last year when I needed a cheap snow-boarding jacket.

Micah, when I read this title I was trying to figure out which enemy of yours was visiting us, maybe one of those boys from the Rolex board on WUS?

I do tend to attract a healthy amount of flak, don't I. That's what comes of having a strong opinion about almost everything, and being quite happy to share it for no reason at all! LOLOLOL

When I originally opened this thread, I gave it a dead-even chance at not being just a clever subject line...

The Explorer was my favourite Rolex.....

Not sure now as I also really like my GMTII black-black.

If I were to get another Explorer it would be a 1016 hacking from the late 60's/early 70's.

Beautiful watch though!

That one's really starting to grow on me. It'll probably in the fight for Rolex #2 at my house.

Great pics too!

awhile back the explorer was selling for crazy prices in japan because one of the famous singers named kimura takuya from the popular group smap wore one and every guy in japan had to get one... everywhere was sold out in japan and in hawaii... the tourist coming to hawaii would buy them and take back to japan... that was the original watch that i was planning on buying until i first saw the watch that i am getting soon... its simplicity is beautiful and strong!!! no frills just pure rolex plain and simple... might be the next addition to the family... OH NO DMAN SEE WHAT YOU STARTED ME ON!!!!

Now you are beginning to understand the sickness, Muteki. Rolexus degeneratus is a chronic disease for which there is no known cure. It causes heart palpitations whenever you are in close proximity to an AD, you drool over pictures of Rolexes in watch magazines, and worst of all, it is known to cause serious depletions in your financial accounts multiple times.
