Brian I don't understand how a simple watch like the 5167 can have the same movement as a watch with moon phase and AC

Can someone explain to the beginner that I am how this is possible???

Ken you are beeing extremely modest showing only 2 PP movements, but at the same time I understand that if you put pics of ALL your movements it would probably be 10 pages long

Of course the most beautiful movements are clearly the hand wound pieces, at least when PP, ALS and AP are involved, not the case with all brands, Panerai ones for example are nice but the hand wound movement on my 233 is very basic since Panerai hide most of the movement, which is too bad, but some auto movements are also works of art, the 15202 and many Pateks for example.

Anyways like I said I get a great deal of pleasure looking at movements, I even had a crystal caseback installed on my Rolex sub LN that I sold, and God knows that Rolex movements are made to resist nuclear bombs but not to be beautiful, but since I have my 5712 and 2 Rolexes I will not do the same thing with one of the 2, I have enough pleasure just looking at my PP movement

Amazingly beautiful movements John , may I ask to what pieces they belong?

And pardon my ignorance but what does it mean when there is written "Patek Philippe advanced research"? Does it mean that it is a prototype, a special order or something else?

Yep I can understand you on that one, it would take too much time and work

The manual wound movement pic you posted is truly a masterpiece , I don't think there is a movement more beautiful than a PP manual wound, truly amazing, for me a real masterpiece, which moves me much more than the Mona Lisa, or any other painting or sculpture from any of the greatest genius artists the world has ever known, IMO an incredible achievement, I wonder how many hours are put in the making of let's say the most complicated of Patek hand wound pieces, but by guessing I would think a few thousand hours.

Patek made 3 references 5250, 5350, 5450 which was annual calendar which introduced different parts of the movement in sillicium
And the final advanced research has been the perpetual calendar 5550
5450 and 5550 were 300 limited edition
