Help to Identify a "Rolex" Geneve

Hi

My grandfather had a beautiful day/date that he purchased about 40 years ago and gave it to his son for a special occasion. To replace that Rolex, he bought the watch that I attached below.

This was about 20-30 years ago. I believe he paid a good amount of money for this watch, not exactly sure how much but I'd say in the $10-20K range back then. He believes, and let's say that it has been confirmed by an appraiser, that it is 18K yellow gold with real diamonds. He also claims that the brand "Geneve" has some affiliation with Rolex. There is a logo on the bracelet that could resemble a Rolex logo. It is also obviously a quartz.

Now, for obvious reasons, my brother and I have always been skeptical. My impression is that it could be real gold, diamonds, etc, but a completely off brand watch/mechanism that is practically worthless other than the value of the metal and gems.

Can anyone provide some insight? Other than it being a complete fake in all aspects (which I understand is possible, but I believe to be unlikely).

Thanks!

There was a company (I cant remember the name) that made a solid 18K watch that looked just like a DD. It was blatant copy of a DD, but not a fraud, because it did not say Rolex on the watch. And the obvious, need to see pics....

That watch has no relation to a Rolex.

The Geneve line is found in Rolex Cellini line.

Yes to echo what has been said, this company has NOTHING to do with Rolex. As far as value from what I can tell, its prob worth scrap value for the gold and diamonds which might be a little higher than retail selling it as a watch.

I did a search it looks similar ones have asking prices in the 6-8K range, like I said it might be worth seeing what the gold and diamonds are worth loose.

Agree. Predominate value is scrap for gold. Much smaller value for the stones.

Omega had a Geneve model long ago, but this Geneve aspires to confuse the casual observer with a Rolex model. The tricorn crown further exhibits the intent to confuse.

As a family heirloom you might just keep it “as is” but have the crystals appraised for authenticity and the gold colored metal as well.

Could it have been that expensive 20-30 years ago? Wouldn’t a Rolex day date have been half that amount 30 years ago? Seems strange to sell a Rolex and buy a more expensive quartz ‘homage’
