GMT Vintage wearing question

Hello all,

I have a mid 70s GMT Master that I occasionally wear, approx. couple of times a month. I had it serviced by Rolex in 2006. I was wondering wether I have to adhere to the recommended servicing period of 5 years, as I don't use it as a daily watch.

Thanks for your feedback

I would service it, but if you use it once a month you could service it every 6/7 years.

I know I'll get a beating for saying this, but I only have a watch serviced when it's running out of COSC not because of duration.

I might push it out even longer than that... perhaps 8 to 10 years.. The modern oils and gaskets are much better and less likelly to break down today (or from the 2006 service) than when the watch was made back in the 70's..

Even Rolex says "approximately every 5 years 'depending on your use'"..

I have also spoken to several Rolex trained watchmakers who say that Rolex is leaning towards changing their own advice to 8 years... (perhaps to diffuse Omegas co-axial claims)

Hi Tools,
When you say modern oils, can you give a time frame year that modern oils started to be used by Rolex?
thanks

Even if you don't wear it much....

Because of it's age I would stick to the 5 years or so. But that's just me. Do you have any pictures? Here's my '67,
