1983 Rolex Seadweller 1665 Unusual Caseback
hi all,
i found this rolex 1665 1983 in the online auction website. the one thing i've noticed is the unusual caseback. the word "patented" seemed to have been etched out. Could anybody confirm that Rolex did this to the last 1665's to be produced and why? cheers! |

Here is one on ebay that is going for almost $8K. The serial number is close to mine.

Its my understanding that the patent lapsed at a certain point and they had to machine the engraving off for a while.
