1987 ROLEX 16550 CREAM Rail Dial Explorer II
1987 Rolex 16550 Explorer II - Cream Rail Dial
The coolest mistake Rolex ever made! If you’re scratching your head here, let me give you some background before we jump in to the details. These extremely rare cream dials are a result of a defective batch of white paint that was used for a short time in the 1980s. Over the years these dials, that were intended to be bright white, have changed to various shades of cream and thus have become very sought after by collectors. Now on to the main course, this particular example, dating to 1987 (9.6M serial), has aged to a perfect cream color. Case is thick, bezel is sharp and hands have aged to very close match. Watch comes on a later 93150 bracelet with 11 links total. Base of minute hand had light fill job. Happy to provide black light photos upon request. This watch has a whole lot of cool factor and it’s sure to make a statement - especially among fellow watch nerds. PRICE: $18,850. Trades welcome.
