A couple in - and so long 2011

Well, I haven't been around very much over the last few weeks - I've been quite busy with work, had a couple of nasty colds (I live in England, remember) and for some reason have been a little less motivated to post. That said, there have been some changes to the collection, and I've let quite a few go that were just sitting in the box and not really seeing the light of day.

Amongst that number were a very nice 5513 and an almost NOS IWC Yacht club from the seventies. Both lovely watches, I accept - but things needed shaking up a bit! The good news is that there were aso some new arrivals though...

The first was a 14060 from 1991. It was about the only Sub variant I hadn't owned, but I also wanted something that needed a little lass babying without being a modern watch. This has sapphire glass and has been recently pressure tested, so fits the bill nicely; however, it also has a lovely creamy patina (not evident from the photos, but very much so in real life) which contrasts beautifully against the white gold indices. It's really just what I was after, and it's versatile enough to be a regular wearer, and I love the simplicity of the two-line dial

The second arrival (it came yesterday, in fact) is a lovely 16030 from 1983, which like the Sub is in pristine condition. I let a DJ go a while back and was immediately cross with myself for doing so; having been keeping an eye out since then for a nice one the chance to get a very unusual brown/bronze dial was too much to resist. In fact, this is the first of this dial colour that I've seen and I think it looks great on a brown strap. I have the jubilee as well, and I also have the original box, the punched papers and the sales receipt from when it was first bought.

So, there you go - a couple of lovely watches, and I'm down to a slightly more comfortable number too (once I get into double figures I start to panic a bit ).

Well, there was one more, but I can't talk about it here...

Tony, those are some amazing beautiful shots!!! That Datejust is a stunner. The dial is one of the most beautiful and unique dials I've seen. Love the brown croc strap on it. It matches really nice!!!

Thanks - I just love the DJ, actually. The colour's lovely, but it's also so nice to have something that'll really match brown clothes that I may be wearing
