Have you ever seen another AP in the wild?

Of all the brands I collect, I've never seen another AP IRL out in the wild. I'm not talking about GTGs or even fellow WIS - even then there aren't many. Sure you see Ambassadors and celebrities alike wearing APs but usually on TV or print. Rolexes seem as plentiful as the stars in the sky, Omegas abound like fish in the sea, Pateks pop up once in a blue moon, Breguet, JLC, IWC, Blancpain, GP, VC, etc... I've seen them all in the wild... all but another AP. Mind you, I love individuality but I'd have thought I'd have run into at least one up to this point? I must be hanging in the wrong circles.

Once. I was boarding a plane and while we were waiting in the tunnel the gentleman behind me had an AP on. Looked great.

A few of my clients have ROO's. That's why I'm careful which watch I wear if I'm seeing clients, and why I have so far resisted buying a 44mm. When I was much younger a friends father had a gold royal oak and that is what gave me the AP bug. He also had Pateks but there was something that, even at 18, was very striking about the Royal Oak.

If you want to see some cool watches in the wild I can recommend the Monaco Grand Prix, although you might be too busy looking at other things.

Sure, plenty of times. There are not very common here in the DC area as it is in general a very conservative area, but I've come across some ROOs, including the Diver. If you go to Europe, on the other hand, like Spain for instance. I was out one night in Barcelona this past summer and I think I saw at least 4 red gold ROOs. If you hit some of the fancier beach towns, it is pretty much the most common watch these days. Seen them plenty of times in NYC as well.

Having said that, it is probably one of the more uncommon watch sightings though, especially if you compare to Rolex, Omega, IWCs etc. Come to think of it, I think I've seen even fewer VCs in real life though...

I've seen one 15300 in line at the airport. That's it. Our big splurge each year is a trip to the Four Seasons Maui and even there have only seen Rolexes.

I saw one in Miami and one in Vegas. But I frequently see a bumble bee on the wrists of the guy who owns the cigar store down the street from my house.

I think I'm the odd one out again. I see AP pretty often. Maybe because I'm in Singapore. I saw my neighbor wearing a diver the other day.

On a side note, I think one can spot AP easily in HK and Singapore business district.

A few of my clients wear them. One has a black themes ROO, other a blue ROC and other a RG dual time RO.

I travel often and have seen a few on the wild. They're not that rare in some of the places I visit, like Miami and Panama.

I can't speak for the Singapore business district but HK is pretty much Rolex or black Timex/Casio. I've not seen too many high end watches even from those guys who can afford crazy stuff.

Never, in Montreal. One time in Paris while enjoying an espresso at l'enclos du temps. This is one of the reason s among others that attracted me to AP. Only people who know will know.

I've come across a bunch in NYC in the last year, none recently though. I saw a gold ROC at Laguardia. Saw an SS ROC at my gym (my gym has AP clocks, by the way). A few Offshores at shopping places and nice restaurants. But the best sighting I had was seeing Valentino walk out of Barney's and into a limo with another guy (whom I also recognized from the media -- another designer I believe) who was wearing the holy RG Jumbo. I think all of the above sightings were within like a 2-month span, coincidentally.

Few years ago only knew 1 person at my work that had one (ROO City of Sails) and now he just picked up the ROO Montoya. I never saw them out in the wild and I'm always looking.

Now I see a one or two a week around town. Seems like they are really gaining in popularity.

The two instances that came to mind was seeing a guy down in Atlantic City with a 15300 (could have been 15202). Also saw a guy in my neighborhood wearing a RGRC coming out of the supermarket.

Once. Don't want to turn this into one of the "what do you do with your watch at airport security" threads, but that is where I had my only AP in the wild encounter. Outbound from Washington/Dulles, the gentleman behind me in line put his ROC in one of the small dishes and sent it through. He then got hung up in the metal detector and had to be pulled out of line and hand wanded. His AP was just sitting on the conveyor during an extremely busy time. Probably sat there for a good four or five minutes. I was very, very slow in gathering my things so I could stand over his watch and make sure nobody picked it up. Coincidentally, I saw a similar situation occur at the same airport with a Pepsi GMT.

A ROC in rose gold at a meeting, and a ROO on a bracelet also in rose gold getting onto a plane. Guy on the plane looked a bit like Flavio Briatore.
