iPad new v5.0 and TRF posting problem:
Now that I've upgraded my iPad to 5.0, when I'm on TRF (no Tapatalk), right in the middle of posting in the posting window, it just crashes back to the home screen. When I go back into Safari I get the posting screen window, but my text is gone. Happens about 90% of the time.
Anyone else having this symptom? Any ideas what it might be?

Yes, I have to now, just wondering if it's a 5.0 bug with the forum software?

Well the forum software hasn't changed.....
Are you sure that your browser settings are the same as before. Have you allowed cookies in your settings? Also are you sure there are no temp files from your previous iOS that are conflicting. Did you do a clean sweep? I use Atomic Web Browser on my iPad2. It is $0.99 at the MacApps Store. It never crashes. The problem isn't with the forum, but with the new Mac browser.

It seems like the issue is not one related to the forum but is wide-spread:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread...rt=75&tstart=0 http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1167383 As stated above for 99 cents (not even $1) Atomic Web Browser is great alternative on the iPad. Also have you tried reseting the iPad. This often helps after an upgrade. Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

I have not posted using my iPad since upgrading to 5.0.
If you are reading this then it worked.

Safari crashes. Tapatalk crashes.
Atomic also crashes for me. I did a total restore of my iPad and Atomic just now crashed again when trying to reply to this post, so that didn't help. Hopefully, whatver the problem is, Apple or someone figures a fix for it! SOO FRUSTRATING! Suzy |

Reading the Mac community threads it seems to possibly be memory overload related resulting in a browser crash.
It seems to be more common on iPad 1 than 2. Some applications still run in the background even when closed.....Its definitely an issue Apple needs to fix.

Wow, I've never had Safari crash on my iPad2. I just upgraded to iOS5 and haven't noticed any issues since doing so.

It's odd, I'm in the large window where you type your post, and I just hit a few letters and it instantly goes to the home screen with no warning or message.
Upon going back into Safari, I have the same post screen but without any of my text. Happens about 90% of the time on the iPad2 now with 5.0; never happened on v4. Interestingly, if I use the quick post window, it does NOT happen.

Have you trying resetting or restarting? Also try closing all background apps. I don't know if that would fix things but give it a go.

It seems to be some kind of memory management issue.
I don't know what you can do it really is an Apple problem. Apparently it happens more frequently with the iPad1 than the iPad2, but it shouldn't happen at all really. It never happened with previous iOS so it must be a bug Apple will in time release an update to remedy.

No change with hard reset or app closing.

Did you:
In your Home screen tap Settings / Safari. Clear History / Cookies and the Cache. Restart your iPad. ?????

If I stick to the quick reply box at the bottom of a thread page there is no problem. It appears to be a memory management issue of iOS5.

I said that before they released iOS 5.
iOS5 is a new operating system for the iPad and as such it will have teething problems. I wouldn't worry too much about it. These things take time and there will hopefully be an OS update to remedy the apparent memory management problem. In the meantime I would suggest that you use the quick reply box at the bottom of the thread page. That should enable you to participate without the Browser unexpectedly closing.

Trying a quick reply. Of course, we can't quote use smileys or anything.
Obviously, some kind of OS5 memory issue. And I do want to make you all saw the post a few days ago. i TOTALLY restored my iPad 2 overnight, meaning deleted everything and then restored my last backup. That would be way more signigicant than just clearing out the cookies. :) Still amazed this ONLY happens when using TRF. I could browse for hours on Ebay. Strange. Suzy |
