Me too! That orange just pops in such a cool way. Patek will always have their classic calatravas...but it's just so awesome to see them spice up their sport line a bit...especially the aquanaut, as honestly it's been a hair stale for a while (not calling them bad by any means, I have a travel time coming but just an observation)

After a few days and seeing more pics, ive come to the conclusion....

Love it on Orange strap.
Looks “off” on black strap for some reason..

Therefore how much would I wear an Orange strap watch or how long before the novelty of the Orange strap wears off?

Pateks are obvs different but when I had my PO I did prefer it on the orange strap to black, actually got me more notice from girls than any other watch I've had so maybe that's why...

im the opposite. I like the orange accents a lot but the strap is too much. Id wear it on the black strap as i prefer that. IMO thats the only way the watch doesnt get old.

On the orange strap, it would be fantastic for the summer. Black strap otherwise (save for beach vacations in the winter).

On black strap I much prefer the 5164 which I think is the way im going to go

Problem with Aquas are that they look sooooo much nicer in real life so hard to judge this one

Of all the releases at this years Baselworld -- this was my favorite. I like the orange markers but prefer the black strap. If i did not already own the 5164, 5990, 5960 and 5712-- would go for this one. Too redundant at this point.

its odd that Patek is embracing the strap with orange and including two straps with purchase, yet are not embracing this kind of flexibility on the other aquanauts. You cant get a green strap anymore unless you own the green aquanaut and they won't sell you a blue strap from the 5168 or advanced research unless you own one.

Its kind of contradictory, so maybe they finally embraced it and will free up the strap options so we can change up our watches.

16 at my AD, and I’d guess quite a few of those are flippers. This is going to be hard to get for a while! Will be interesting to see where the grey price settles compared to the 5711.

If your AD know's they are "flippers" will they move on to someone they assume will be keeping the watch or a known collector??

I know my local AD really doesn't want to sell to anyone who isn't a known customer that is planning on holding these more desirable pieces.

Thanks. It seems to have a bit more of a silvery tone, looking at the IG pics though...

5980 movement I would assume. Good chance they all share the same base but I don’t know much

Really like the hands and dial accents, the orange strap may be a little much though.
