Honest opinion on this watch...
Hi all, I’m currently looking to purchase a watch. I had planned on a Submariner no date. However, I saw this watch (attached) when looking and I really like it. It seems to be quite unique as it’s the first I’ve seen with the blue dial and diamonds. It’s advertised for £5800 Sterling. However, I have a couple of concerns and I wondered if I could get some honest opinions?
Is it too flashy for everyday use/work with a suit? Is it likely to hold value? Would a sub be a better investment watch as they seem to be increasing in value with them being harder to buy new? Any comments would be great. |

Compared to a stainless sub, that is more flashy.
Sub holds better valued than DJ imo.

It might be too flashy for everyday use and work for you or it might not be. Depends on the field, your position, etc.
No, it is likely not going to hold value as well as the Sub, that being said get what you want. If you like this, but get a Sub, you'll regret it and end up with this in the end. |

Not a fan, stick with the sub. But hey if it rings your bell then that’s all that really matters

I’d pass. Get the iconic Sub C ND. Understated but impressive and pure Rolex

A little too flashy for me, but you are the one wearing it. Sub will be able to be worn in more situations. Both dress and casual. Sub will hold value, but don’t consider that too much.
Buy what you love and what you will wear! Don’t compromise. You’ll end up buying another watch to scratch the real itch or flipping this one, if it’s not what you really want.

Good luck on sourcing a Submariner without paying a premium. Might be worth it but I would not. Look at the SS Date Just with the WG fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. Blue, black or white/silver dial are classics. Get the newest model you can find that is complete with box, papers and some warranty. You will be set for the office or casual dress and when it is time to sell you will not lose a lot. Good luck.

I’ll go against the grain and say I like it. Well, aside from the diamonds. Not a big diamond guy.
I also disagree with the sentiment that a sub can be wore with a suit. I flipped my 114060 exactly because I felt it didn’t go well with a suit. I’m more comfortable wearing a two-tone DJ with casual clothes than I am wearing a sub with a suit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

As others have stated, go with what you like; we can give hundreds of different opinions based on what we like.
Also, do not worry so much about the investment perspective on the watch, just go with what sings to you and wear the heck out of it. |

IMHO I would go for a Sub.
That is a little "Flashy" for me suit or no suit. Of course everyone has different taste and see levels of Flash in different ways. How old is the watch ... the bezel looks a little "Flat" to me.

You asked for honest opinions: too flashy, not a fan of either gold or diamonds, unless on women’s watches. The sub is iconic and much more masculine.

No PM watch is good investment. For that matter, watches in general are bad investments compared to traditional investments. If you're going to buy a watch, buy what sings to you, not what some knothead on an internet forum tells you to buy. Ignore anyone who claims the watch isn't masculine enough.
That is a great looking watch. No one will notice the diamonds, and everyone will assume the gold is fake or plated. Unless you work for a government organization or charity, it's unlikely anyone will hold your choice of watches against you. |

I like it and owned exact the same dial
in the old days. Go for it, if you like it!

If it were my decision - the sub would be a clear winner. I agree with above - get what makes you happy.

A bit gaudy and would be very difficult to pull off with anything too casual such as t shirt and jeans.

Get the Sub. Way more versatile. I’m also not a two tone or jubilee bracelet fan.

I like it. Sub is nice, but very understated. I decided between a TT DJ and blue TT sub and ultimately chose the DJ and could not be happier. There’s no wrong choice though.

I like the sub for me, but my wife would like this one better. Is that pic a 36mm or 31mm?

Along with the other feedback here, the bezel on that watch appears over polished. That would make me think that the rest of the watch may be over polished.
£5800 for that one seems overpriced as well. Randy |

You said you were going to wear it a suit, so its not to flashy. But most watches shouldn't be considered a investment .
