5170p of course.
Beautiful front, beautiful back, rectangular pushers and brilliant overall finishing. What more can I ask for in a watch?

Which Platinium you you preferred ?

Platona has all the aspects that I look on a watch. Wearability, looks, a market for it (if I ever sell ) , power watch ( in other words a descent bling).
Patek has the movement, a nice blue dial, but doesn’t have wearability and market that Platona has. Those last 2 factors are probably the reason of why the dress watch is dead.

So for me Platona

+1 for Platona

If they made a 5990/1P I'd be all over it though. I much prefer the more complicated Nautiluses vs. the 5711/1P.

Platona has never appealed to me. It is not pretty in my eyes (colors...) and screams power watch way too loud. A hard pass... 5170P scores higher in the looks department but I don't find it great either. I do like the 5170G w black dial though and might consider a SS Daytona for my daily if it had a date... I also like platinum as a watch metal, just not the two pieces put forward in the OP.

I bought a Platinum Daytona at the end of last year and it just did not work well for me. I thought it was a little small, 38.5, which I knew prior to my purchase. I also thought I could live with the brown bezel but not so much. If the bezel had of been black, maybe. I looked at the DD40 in platinum but went back to a DD II with the concentric Roman dial. At the price point the Platinum watches are, even pre-owned, it should be right.

I own the 5170p and the platona... The Patek would stay watch wise if I had to pick one... But the Platona has sentimental value... But that's on a personal level.... Not watch vs watch.

Platona. If the 5170P didn't have diamonds, it might sway me. Rolex, unlike Patek, was smart in releasing two versions of the Platona.

For me I’d prefer the 5170P. Platinum Daytona was a good deal back when you could land one for 45k but for 65k no thanks.

Platona is a hot watch , and yes love the power ; plus love the weight but to each it’s own , you like what you like . 5170P is supercool is not its fault that the market doesn’t agree with it ; times change I guess , you ask me the same question 6 months ago and maybe I would of sided with you , who knows

Cheers

That would be great for all the owners but I don’t know lol

For the record I think it’s a safer buy than most any PM watch and think the short term will be kind to it.

It’s certainly worth more than a 5711 lol that much I am confident of.

I hope to be a future owner , telling u Platona is getting hard to get , but regardless I agree is the best Rolex PM to own for sure.

I believe you. Still available on secondary below msrp but I assume buyers want it from their AD to help with future allocations.
