What watches have actually you bought because you can’t get a Nautilus?

This isn’t what watches have you bought while waiting for a Nautilus, it’s what watches have you bought specifically because you can’t get one?

For me, a Vacheron Constantin Overseas and a 5296G trying to get bumped up the list at my AD. After buying he VC, I actually questioned my continued desire for a Nautilus.

I was fortunate with my timing. I ordered mine in December 17 before everyone went mad for them

This is an original question. I like it.

I have never liked the Nautilis even when it was selling for 20% below retail. Just not for me. And certainly not at three times retail.

I wore royal oaks for a long time including a perpetual calendar as my data day. Two things happened. One night it was getting close to needing service which would’ve been very expensive. Two, they added the 52 week chapter ring to the new perpetual calendar which in my opinion ruined it. It was now 41 mm, not 39 like the original Jumbo.

I also jumped to VC overseas bandwagon.

So nice, Kevin, you ain't been suffering then!

Instead of a 5712, though I'm not madly after one, I bought a VCO 2nd gen and a BP FF, but neither lasted more than a few weeks.

I always loved the BP FF. Had one for several years, but mine is gone now as well.

Thanks Neil, I am starting to appreciate AP a lot more since the Nautilus has become impossible to get.

I had the chance to buy both of them a few years ago and didn't, and there were no resale loss fears back then either as everything fell, so that was telling, but with the drought I thought I'd take a punt last year but they didn't take after the initial euphoria.

It’s the VC Overseas simple date 4500v. Come with a bracelet as well as a alligator and rubber strap with a really simple changing system. Best on the market. So many updated features and a trinity watch as well.

And a beautiful AP RO PC. Wear in good health. My reason for wanting this perpetual calendar was because it was basically a jumbo with its ultimate expression. When they added the week ring and increase the size it no longer had the direct horological DNA of the jumbo and was now a complicated Royal Oak.

By end of its self, it’s an amazing wrist watch. It’s amazing the sort of things we obsess about in this hobby.

Hmm...

I guess if anything is available at retail I would probably add a 5711 white back.

In the meantime I have bought several royal oaks I guess but not sure if they are related purchases.

There is no question I think I prefer the 5711 to the 15400/15500/15202 but I think the offshore 44 line might be my favorite alongside the aquanauts if I am honest.

If I could land a white CE RO PC I would cash out of a few pieces to make it happen.

You CAN get a 5711, just not at list. So let me get this right, you won't pay a premium, so you buy watches you don't really want? That'll teach PP corporate a lesson. lol

I can’t tell if I love the GS... I love the seiko’s. But the GS price point is not cheap.
