The Rolex Submariner is one of the most recognizable and iconic sports wristwatch of all times, many would remember their favorite Bond actor wearing them in the movies. The Submariner is one of the most popular sports models, other than the Comsmograph Daytona, that is meant for diving tool watch. One of early pioneers in professional diving, the Submariner can stand the test of age as it offers evolutionary changes to its robust and timeless Oyster screw-down caseback design. This particular reference was introduced in Baselworld in 2010. The Submariner 116610LV comes in a classic but modern case size of 40mm in diameter and is made from Oystersteel, which is Rolex’s new term of 904L stainless steel. The uni-directional green graduated rotatable bezel which is used in timing each diving session, is made from Cerachrom that is made from hardened ceramic and will resist scratch and fade against time. The maxi dial is made with iconic sports design that features distinctive Chromalight luminescent hour markers. Furthermore, the dial features Rolex hallmark green color done in a sunburst fashion which changes in intensity depending on the lighting condition which sometimes looks bright green and in some condition, looks almost black. Because the watch is green, this particular reference is sometimes known as the Hulk due to its popularity in the watch community. The Submariner 116610LV offers a date complication that comes with 2.5 times magnification from the cyclops window. The Submariner 116610LV offers crown guard for its winding crown which minimizes damage from daily use and also offers Triplock system for waterproofness system up to 300 meters/1,000 feet. The movement is in-house manufactured perpetual, mechanical, self-winding 3135 workhorse, and offers approximately 48 hours in power reserve. The movement also offers hacking seconds function which stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled for precise-time setting. The perpetual rotor works in bi-directional self-winding fashion, and the oscillator is made from blue Parachrom hairspring to combat magnetism. The bracelet is sports Oyster three-piece links and offers safety clasp with Rolex Glidelock extension system for wetsuit applications. The Rolex Submariner is suitable for everyday or casual wear. Lastly, the LV designation of the model number is a French term for Lunette Verte which means green that is the colour of the wristwatch.
