buying base is less in full PM. tt is more popular than people give it credit for here.

So the white text wasn't an advertising mistake at all. The more I see the more I like. It does seem to freshen up the dial in a good way as well as matching the markers.

I have no idea the reasoning behind half of what the crown does. I thought the PM would have been released first, then the TT, and finally the SS.

Huh? Matching the markers? The dial markers are YG!! How does white text match that? The gold text matches the markers 1000x better.

The picture above the markers look white gold because of the strong lighting in that room when the picture was taken. Look at DavidSWs closeup. The white text looks way way out of place.

I have the new bluesy, dial markers (chromalight) are white. Always are, that is what people are taking about when the refer to dial markers. Plus the hands and white date wheel. Not the small amount of gold that surrounds the chromalight.

One can make the case for gold text better on the full gold watch, to match the yellow gold Rolex band that aligns the inner bezel. Honestly I don’t think it is that big of a deal either way, ballers watch regardless.

The "surrounds" of the indices are still YG on the 12 series right?

Yep! Lucky they didnt change that. Otherwise having WG surrounds on a YG watch that would be totally stupid.

I just cannot get used to the white text, hurts my eyes every time! Not to diminish the new Submariner, but I strongly prefer the 11, also am a big fan of fat lugs

I love my 116618LB and keeping it. Personally not a fan of the white dial print, and the fact this new model is 45K USD from a well known seller is total insanity. That is almost twice the coin I paid for mine brand new.

One further point is that some people have said the blue bezel and blue dial do not match up perfectly, so the gold text helps to match with the gold bezel numbers and tie the watch all in together, this is obviously not an issue on the Black model, altho I feel it already looks so similar to the SS model, esp when the gold gets faded out in certain lights, as pic above shows, so that too should have gold text.

When I see the gold text, to me it looks like it is getting scratch off, fades away or something. I like how Rolex is clearly visible with the white text.

No it doesn't. It is just too bold and hits you in the face. Dial print should be more subtle because you want to look primarily at the hands and markers to tell the time. FWIW I love my 116618 and glad I bought it when I did. Especially with the ridiculous prices these watches are being asked for now.

Nobody complained about the gold dial text for decades. Now just like the "super case" it is a mistake. My how opinions change.

To be fair, both 5 digit gold Subs had gold text and some complained about legibility, and they did indeed transition the black dial to white text on the 11 series. It seemed to me like it was inevitable the blue was changing too.

I guess when it was the only option with bigger lugs and gold text, that was the only choice and nothing to compare it to. It is natural to compare the new with old. Always loved the older version, just happen to like the new a bit more. When asked to make a choice everyone has their favorites.

Question of the day:

Spring for full PM or just go with TT. It’s such a hard decision for the Sub!
