You didn't give enough information, such as what else is in your collection? Do you wear the watch daily at work, or only on the weekends, etc. The Sub is one dimension. Black dial diver with or without a date. A Date Just has multiple combinations that you can spend then next 20 years just wearing a different combination of metal, bezel, dials, and case size. I would get the SUB first then the DJ.

If this is your first "big" watch - get the Sub if you can find one. Why? Because you'll always wish you did even though you'll love your DJ41.

After I finished college about 12 years ago I had a very generous relative offer to gift me a nice watch. We went to Torneau and I passed on the Sub in favor of a Breitling.

A decade goes by and I start looking at Rolex's after a really successful year in my career. I had the option to get a Sub....and I got the DJ41. Two months later I went in and picked up a Bluesy (Two tone sub). I wear that watch almost all the time now and the DJ only comes out when I need my attire to be slightly less sporty and a little more subdued.

The sub is iconic and is generally speaking harder to get. You won't regret it.

Depends on your style in general...if you usually dress sporty and simple.. I would say a sub. But if you usually wear nice clothe and is sophisticated...I would go with the DJ.

Just get one, they’re fine, suit or not doesn’t matter, wear what pleases you more.

Recently picked up a DJ41.
I works as a casual watch. You don't need to wear it with business attire.
Its very versatile.

I was in the same boat wanting a sub and also a DJ fir a very long time. Classics!
Ended up with both. Got the sub first though. 14060m. Still smiling at it 7 years later.
Don’t ask me to cut down to just one of them, okay!
