Rolex 3035 Movement Issue
Dear forum members,
My grandma has reported that her watch needed to be wound every morning, as it would have stopped when she would get up in the morning. This strikes me as odd, as her rather active lifestyle for her age would be enough to sufficiently wind the watch during regular wear. This leads me to believe that either there must be something wrong with the self-winding mechanism, the mainspring or the lubrication of the movement. Have any of you had a similar issue? Will get hands-on later today to give more details in case something feels amiss. Regards A fellow watch forum member |

There was some mention in another thread about lubrication issues regarding the 3235.
EDIT: Apologies, wrong movement.

If she winds it thoroughy by hand each morning and it stops in less than a day, I'd say that it can't simply be an autowinding problem or an issue with her level of activity. The power reserve should be more than 24 hours from the hand winding alone. It could be a problem associated with the mainspring, but in any case, it will need to be looked at.

A 3035 is a pretty old movement and so I would hope that this one has had regular maintenance.
It is not unusual for a watch to stop every morning if the mainspring is not getting a full wind for whatever reason. They will even stop on a winder if it is not set for enough turns. . Manual winding is only a few, rather than a full wind. . Activity is not as much as estimated. Few of us older folks put enough into a watch for a full daily wind. . Lastly, there is always a possibility of something faulty.

What confused me was that I had gotten serviced rather recently. Earlier last year if I remember correctly. When she brought it to me to set it again, I decided to wind it a few times to see if anything sounded or felt broken. Apparently, there's been nothing wrong since. I hope it stays that way, but for now, at least, it appears to be back to functioning like normal.
Thanks for your replies, in case anything further comes up i'll update the thread Regards A fellow form user |

Maybe it’s still under warranty if it has received a full service.
