Vintage Gold Oyster Date: Need Info

Hi Everyone:

Long time lurker, first time poster. I will be posting from now on in other sections and share some pics of my (small) collection.

I was hoping to get some insight as to this gold oyster date. It used to be my grandfathers and he passed it down when he passed. I have never used it and has been sitting in a safe for the past 16-17 yrs. Anyhow, as I've grown to love to love watches I decided to take it out. Wound it it up and it is running fine so far, quickdate not working (although I dont know if it was available back then), movement seemed a little sticky when I wound it. My best guesstimate is that the watch is at least 40 yrs old. I hadn't seen a bracelet like that either.

I would like to get any info on the watch, reference no., how old it might be, etc. Anything that could shed some light.

Also, I would like to change the bracelet to perhaps a brown leather strap. Any info on how/where I could purchase this from to make it look good.

Thanks everyone! On to the pics.

Shes had a repainted dial at some point as well, although I know theres a seller on ebay right now with some Original Rolex date dials made for gold/tt models for less than $100 right now, what a nice bracelet. I love the unique designs they used to do

It is a very different bracelet for sure. I don't see how it could be resized though as there aren't any links (its too big for me) My wrist is 7inches. The bracelet has the rolex crown logo on the inside of the clasp and a "k114" marking.

Thank you both for the info. I will search the forum and read up on the reference model.

Any good leather straps I could switch too? My plan for this watch is to use it once every so often to a dinner or the like. Thanks!

Case and bezel are very crisp... Finding a great dial to match should be easy.

Thanks. When I post a pic it says that it won't show up "until a moderator has approved it for posting" Might have to do with my low post count

besides dial & that is not to hard to source it looks very nice. These have a good value because of bezel and bracelet. Keep it all together. Nice leather strap is easy to source as would be a proper gold buckle on this forum as well and wear it often :-)
