Luminova uranium experiment

Hi there.
First post here . Brazilian Proud onwer of several vintage and semi-vintage rolexes. 2 subs , 1 solid gold yatch master, 1 1986 gmt coke and one 16660 circa 85
My question is about 60s tritium dials.
I got one t-25 2 line 5512 dial in really fair shape. Black paint is just ok but the markers had an terrible relume work done some time in the past, so I decided to try some some funny thinks (and probably a little danger)
Do you guys think , hypotetically, if I buy one ore uranium rock ( there is one rock at ebay with 55.000 CG count ) , under UV light , crush the ore into fine powder , select the glowing particles ( with appropriate gloves, masks etc...) .....lets say ....0.01g (100mg) if I mix this fine powder to luminova paint. May uranium excite the luminova to provide glow during all night?
Tks in advance and sorry about my terrible english

Hey Doctor Brito, I'm sure you can prescribe your dial those hot blue pills?

Kiddin' good luck and please let us know how radioactive you've become.

Doctor,
Your English is OK . Creativity, on the other hand...
Buy a new dial. Easier , cheaper, affordable, and you don’t need Dexter’s lab to the process !
I am also Brazilian and there is an RSC located in SP, besides some good watch shops I can recommend you.

I don't think it will work, luminova is not excited by radiation, but by UV light rays.
On a safety level, don't even think about it.
Breathing in thorium dust increases the chance of developing lung disease and cancer of the lung or pancreas. In addition, thorium can be stored in bones, so it can cause bone cancer many years after exposure.

The lume that is now on the dial is not original, and your experiment will yield lume that is not original either.

Frankly, I don't see the point.

You will be able to read the watch at night. Not because it's glowing, but because you are.

Ok guys.... bad ideia I admit. I just tought uranium was not SOOO bad because it decay in alpha particules that are easily block by outer skin layers. Even a sheet of paper will block alpha particules. So....... i guess i will try another aproach. Will buy 4 or 5 radium hands , remove the lume from old hands and mix that with super luminova . I guess its safer and I will not be considered so idiot....so far..... haha

Welcome aboard - no don't do your listed plan. No it won't work. "Luminova powders" are not the same compounds used in regular radium dials. You might die in the process ; )
