I love those barn doors Doc. When do you anticipate the house being finished?

Once you experience a gas log fireplace with a blower, you'll never want to screw around with wood again!!! Trust me on this......

We've given our notice in the apartment we are renting. Dan says we will be in by the end of May. The barn doors eliminate a swing into the family room or into the den. They look way cooler than pocket doors.

I've had wood burning fireplaces and converted them to gas. I love turning on the fireplace on a cold morning and feeling the warmth immediately. And I don't have to deal with downdrafts, ash and soot in the house, ticks and bugs in the wood pile in the family rooms, etc.

I've dropped Cat5 cable into every room, at every entrance and at every thermostat. I've got 16 unmanaged ports in the mechanical room so smart TVs and computers can run hard wired. The other devices will run off wireless. I've got no plans right now to operate lights or HVAC via smartphones, but I should be able to in the future.

Great call on the hickory Joey, we have it here in our home and love the warmth it brings to the design.

Nice job on the barn doors too

Countertops, cabinet and closet doors, and paint, along with work on the upstairs fireplace late this week. Canada geese are guarding their nest on the river in front of the house.

The kitchen pantry and microwave cubby. Rustic knotty alder wood.

Kitchen countertops and cabinet doors.

Stone mason is building the upstairs fireplace.

Most of the work now is finish work. We are set to move in on May 24th. They stone mason has finished the fireplaces and is working on the front porch now.

Rox and I have been in the woods on the land cutting up downed trees and hauling them away. My chainsaw is 32 years old and works as well as the day I bought it.

Three weeks ago, we were skiing on corduroy a few miles up the road. Today, it was 81 degrees and Roxi went kayaking and took this photo from the river. Once the screen porch is completed, the house will blend in nicely with its surroundings.

Current tenants of the river include Common Loons, Trumpeter Swans, several varieties of ducks, Canada Geese and Sandhill Cranes. It gets pretty noisy sometimes.

Such a great looking house. My mom lives in the lower Catskills and she's a home builder among other things --- so many great, quality homes like yours in that area. Very nice indeed.

Take lots of photos of the project. It's really enjoyable to look back as it progresses. And post a few on TRF for us fans of home projects.

I may have missed it. What is the siding made of? Is it natural wood?

It's beautiful with the stone.

Thank you. It's called LP Diamond Kote Smart Siding.. It's an engineered wood siding with a permanent finish. It resists temperature extremes, bugs, UV light, woodpeckers and fading.

The stone will run along the lower part of the front of the house. I really like the rustic look.
