Interesting Collection Question
What is a watch, that is still in your collection that you have had the longest? I’m not interested in watches that were gifted to you or your first significant watch. The watch that was bought when you started collecting ( even though you may not have known it). I still have this one that I wear when I’m in a tux.

First Rolex I bought was a 50th anniversary sub, F serial. Still have it. The green bezel got me hooked on Rolex. I had no idea at the time what this watch had started.

In August/ September 1998 I bought an Omega Seamaster Pro. It's been serviced once, and had a couple of check-ups at the Omega Boutique. I still wear it in my rotation, and it still keeps excellent time.

Citizen Eco Drive panda dial. First watch I ever bought and it’s still in my collection. Still works perfectly. I’ll never get rid of it.

It's not flat, but just as nice in my book. That green does have a way of starting out a nice collection. My first was this one.

A mid-size Tag 2000 Professional Series watch was my first watch. I still wear it now and again. I would never get rid of it after being able to get it back from an ex of mine!

A Timex hand wound I purchased back in the 1980's while in college. It still runs and keeps perfect time. I haven't worn it in years, but do wind it up on occasion.

I was given a Victorinox Chrono Classic Titanium (ref. 241171) around my 13th birthday. That was the first watch I had that wasn't more of a toy.

Please don’t judge me, lol. Back in 1996, this Gucci was my first expensive watch and was quite fashionable. I remember seeing Robbie Williams wearing one, on TV. I’ve still got it and I’m hoping that it’ll be worth a fortune one day. Rofl. Seriously, if anybody wants it, let me know. From this, I went to Tag heuer 2000 series, then Tag Monaco, then Breitling Evo, then Rolex in 2004, and never looked back. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Back in 1990 I bought ( financed) my first expensive watch to me. It was a Citizen and it cost me $370.00. From there I went to Gucci, multiple Movados, Seiko, and my favorite one before The Rolex era is my Luminox. I went Rolex at age 44 in 2013 when I bought the Milgauss and never looked back, then a GMT BNLR and my latest is the YM.

I have a Swatch from the early 1990s. That is probably the oldest watch I own.

AS a regular flipper my longest serving watch is far from an earlier piece, it is a Platinum Day Date.

This Omega Seamaster, purchased new about 12 years ago. Cost was around $1700.00 I believe. I remember driving home from the dealer in disbelief that I just spent so much money on a watch. I still wear it and am still mesmerized by the wave dial.

Sorry, should've clarified more (I know the story in my head). This wasn't the first watch I was given or even wore. Rather, I was allowed to go to Tourneau with a set budget and choose a watch on my own. I loved the chronograph functions, and the titanium case made it light enough to be comfortable on my (at that time small) wrist. I spent 2 hours going through the cases and trying everything on before I figured out what I wanted. It was what led me to look at watches in the first place, as well as every Rolex model while in high school and college. Those experiences eventually turned into my Explorer that I wear today.

Probably this one, although I bought a lot of watches previously and had ones gifted to me.
As for the gifted concept, all my gifted watches started out as "what do you want for your birthday/Christmas" so they were my choice. This Rolex was in around 2004 when I decided to get a serious watch again. And if I had to sell my (roughly) 20 watches for some reason, this would be the keeper. |
