Anyone going to F1 race in Montreal
Hey everyone, the time has finally come. I finally get to take my 10yr old son to his first Formula One race. I have been waiting for this moment from the minute he was born. I told my wife back then, I can’t wait to take the little guy to F1 one day. He has been watching the races every Sunday from a three month old sitting in my arms to getting up with me on Saturday for qualifying and Sunday for race days.
Anyway, just wanted to put it out there, if any of you are planning to go that weekend for the race, maybe we can meet for a drink at the venue. I will probably bring my wife as well but will leave our little girl at home, she will drive me crazy as she doesn’t have interest in this. The race weekend is in June . Man, I would love to go but it's a bit of a haul for me.
Too bad his first memories of seeing an F1 car in person will be with that ugly halo device. |

Not going this year....has always been a blast.
For many years, went via Sun Microsystems and Eriksson, pit passes, suites, flights, the whole deal, nightlife was amazing, was hilarious they took Euro's. Hasn't been the same since Enron though, the "all inclusive" 90's is long gone, no more 6000 euro night on the towns at vendor expense...LOL. Still have some great swag from BMW and Ferrari from the times I went. Hats, jackets, and a full "pit suit" from one year. Always a blast though....will watch on TV though, love F1. |

Sounds great, wish I could be there...
Ferrari seems to have the stronger engine this year. Mercedes have not been so successful, but I would never under estimate them. Red Bull have been typically (having regard to recent years) average, but with the splash of good fortune and strategy. PS: Not all Australians engage in the disgusting ritual of drinking from ones shoe

I attended a few years ago. Stayed in old Montréal, took the water taxi, which was less crowded than mass transit. There was another loop hole, rides in to the casino were easier than the track, you could always walk from the casino to the course.
Our hotel Auberge du Vieux Port had F1 gift packages which included ear plugs, energy drinks, etc., it was a fun spot with great service. It was a good time .... |

Thanks everyone. I have done this venue for more than 22 yrs, but this will be a first with a little guy....yes, I will still have many beverages, that’s why my wife is coming! If all goes well, I will maybe go to Austin, another one I have done, in fact it was the inaugural one, incredible venue. Anyway, again, if anyone is going I will keep this thread going for a bit.

I'm work on buying tickets right now, 4 three day passes. I think I would like to be in grandstand 11, 12, 21.
I can't seem to find a seat chart with rows and such. Anyone have some advice on any of these grandstand as far as where best to aim for as far as seat location? Or if you would recommend another grandstand. I decided against 24 because of the sun in your eyes, probably will rain now :) Thanks

Nicholas, this sounds like a great idea! I'm very excited for you just reading that Sadly I won't be able to make it this year but would've really enjoyed being there for a little get together. Hopefully you'll report back with some car pictures from the event!

Nick, I’m so jealous!!
My little fella is 2 and has been watching F1 with me pretty much from newborn. I can’t wait for the day I can take him to his first race!! (I was hoping I wouldn’t have to wait until he was 10 though) Have a great time and don’t forget to post loads of pics! |

I have sat pretty much once in every grandstand and I think the first corner were grandstand 11 and 12 are the best. The only draw back is its at the furthest point of the track, so getting there takes a lot of walking. The hairpin is the closest to the metro which is great if you can not walk far.

The GP I want to go to in Montreal is the Cycling GP and not the F1.
F1 would be cool to see however. |
