New to Patek: Advice Required UK

Hey All

New to the Patek scene so bare with me, my current collection at the moment consists of mainly Rolex Sub LN/LV , GMT BLNR/BLRO/CHNR , Daytona 116519LN , DJ41 all bought at retail from Rolex AD.

Am looking to make my first Patek purchase, ideally either a Nautilus 5712 or an Aquanaut model. From experience is it the case with every PP AD in the UK you have to at least purchased minimum 2 Pateks before being considered one of these models? So far have spoken to WoS and few branches in London and this seems to be the case. (Ie spend min £60k on 2 pieces and then wait a few years).

Any one else experienced otherwise??

Thank You

Going to guess the AD you purchased your Rolex from do not sell Patek.. if so then yes it’s going to be very difficult to get a Nautilus as your first

I wish I could get a 5712 as my first Patek too.

I started with a leather strap complication.

As you bought the Rolexes at retail I'd sell a few of them and buy a 5167 grey, think you've missed the boat on the 5712 grey now at £50K unless you sell off most of collection. Otherwise you have no real AD chance without bundling with slow sellers.

Unfortunately living in London they have so many people draining their stocks.
So I don’t see how you can get past the “buy 2 Pateks, get to buy another 1” deal

It will depend on how patient you are and showing some passion with right AD. If you simply walk in the door asking for a Nautilus or Aquanaut you are no different to the other 10 this week. Spend some time getting to know the AD and Patek with them (preferably a non chain dealer) and several visits later after reviewing all the options with them tell them which piece you want - decide on a single piece that will start your collection. Good luck.

You are right, WOS consider Aquanauts and Nautilus as "wish list" pieces. They would require new customers to have at least purchased 2 Pateks from them before adding to their "wish list". The catch is they are going to say it would take around 4 years for them to deliver a piece and they will ask you to purchase more watches from them while waiting for the Aquanaut/Nautilus to show a purchase pattern and loyalty.

Boodles the other big chain is also asking new customers to buy jewellery in order to get an Aquanaut/Nautilus. Their deals seem to be better than WOS as they would deliver an Aquanaut/Nautilus (may be not a 5711) at the same time when the customer purchase other Pateks/Jewellery from them.
