I'm in Porto from 5th June to 9th June and not taking either of mine.
Only because I'm there on a stag weekend and for the England vs Netherlands Nation's League semi-finals in Guimaraes The potential for me to misplace one more than anything else, especially in what will be a very busy accommodation for 16 of us. Guaranteed luggage everywhere and don't know if the property has a safe. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

Bizarre..... Saw my first crime in Cascais today after coming here for over 20 years.
Some guy got his rucksack nicked on the main shopping street in the middle of the day. The thief ran straight past me with a couple of people chasing. Police joined in. No idea if they caught him. Hope so. Made me decide to be a bit more cautious over here. Having said that, the crime here is much lower than where we live.... https://www.numbeo.com/crime/rankings.jsp |

I would strongly recommend that one reads this before traveling with multiple timepieces:
https://www.fratellowatches.com/bewa...019-attendees/ Granted, this may be extreme but who is to say this can’t happen anywhere ...

We just got back from a week in Portugal. Lisbon seems to have some sketchy areas but no where did I feel “unsafe”. Visited Sintra, Douro Valley and Porto as well.
I wore a Grand Seiko GMT

Favorite spots on the trip? We're doing Lisbon, Sintra, Porto and the Algarve (Albufeira and Lagos).

In Porto, the Vila Nova area on the south bank of the river is nice, all the port wine houses are there and their products can be sampled at reasonable prices. Algarve area is generally quite touristy. My favourite place there is Sagres, the most southwestern point of Europe. Windy but beautiful.

I traveled all around Portugal within the last year (Porto, Lisbon, the Alentejo region) and never felt an ounce of fear regardless of where I was or at what time of day or night. I don't call attention to myself as a tourist--I think that's how you get marked as a target. Anyway, I often travel with an Explorer 214270 which was true of this trip. Of your choices I'd go with your GMT. Rent a car, get off the beaten track as much as possible and be sure to hear some live local/traditional music (Fado) in Lisbon. Cheers! __________ Instagram: @onthedial |

Went to grad school at USC, so I'm sure you know what I mean when I say anything compared to the surroundings of that campus at night is a cake walk!

You have to understand the minimum wage in Portugal is extremely low and most people are just poor there.. In city like Lisbon you will find a lot of garbage, as others have mentioned a lot of people try to scam you selling drugs.. But at the same time, a lot of people there watching you as a tourist. In smaller places i saw even an elderly native lady being nearly attacked at the cash machine by a woman that wanted money, my girlfriend took her away she is a fighter lol.. |

For what it's worth I just found a Explorer at the Cascais Rolex dealer. Have been looking for one for some time. Was on the metro yesterday and saw 2 people wearing Rolex on the train, clearly local and one was a woman. Seems to be very safe.

I travel to Madeira for a month every year for the past 27 years.
I have never had a problem. In fact I have bought PM models there whilst on holiday and never feared at all for either my or my watch safety.

Lol. They’re just trying to sell their product not steal you’re watch. If you don’t want it just say “no thanks”.

This is one of those difficult decisons only you can make. If you leave it at home, you will wish you had it. If you take it on your trip, you might not feel entirely comfortable wearing it and will probably not enjoy parts of your trip or your expiriences as a tourist.
For those that say that watches are not normally noticed, the average individual might not notice but thieves are well verse in spotting valuable items, especially jewlery. Enjoy your trip and hope your decision gets easier to make. Sent from my Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975F-DS) using Tapatalk |

What a crazy thread!
According to this index http://worldpopulationreview.com/cou...-in-the-world/ Portugal is “just” the 4th safest country in the world! So, yeah, unless you are coming from Iceland, New Zealand or Austria you’ll be safer here than in your home Country. |
